As you can see; same shave as yesterday, except for the brush. This one is on loan from Gareth, and the end result was a lather pretty much as good as what I got yesterday.....which was very good.

1904 OC
Gillette 7 O'Clock (yellow)
TOBS Hypo
Brut a/s
Cetaphil lotion
Lime Skin Food

For me, the 7 O'clock does not compare to the Feathers, but very comparable to the Swede. A Day 2 Swede tends to be a little rougher of a shave for me because it is not as sharp. Since I was concerned about that with today's shave, I used the palm method I read about on our site of sliding my palm across the dry blade in the razor before starting my shave. I believe that this helped some because the shave felt very nice for a day 2 shave. Just not the closest of 2 pass WTG shaves. I am going to try this with a Feather on Day 2 next to see if I get a smoother day 2 shave, as well as maybe a better day 3 shave...

Wednesday afternoon

Tabac soap
Rooney Emillion
Futur w/Swede Gillette (day1)
Dominica Bay Rum

After months of experimenting I think this is my favorite combo so far, always works well for me. If it weren't for the dang AD's I think I could stick to this setup... :)

  • Prep: Noxzema Deep Cleansing Cream & hot towel
    Brush: C&E BBB
    Cream: SCS Verbena
Razor: 20's Gillette Ball Handle Old Style for face & Bic Sensitive for head
Blade: Swede (shave 4 and out the door)
Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last Pass Shave Oil
A/S: Thayer's Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner & Nivea Sensitive ASB
Result: A great BBS shave with no nicks or weepers. Just an all around comfortable and pleasing shave. Used the last of my Swedes today and have none left. The Old Style just does what it was intended to do, provide a nice smooth and comfortable shave, time after time.
