Hello from New York
New member here from New York..
I've been shaving for forty five years, just never as an enjoyable pursuit before.. I'm beginning to see the light!

What part of New York? Born, bred, and schooled in the Big Apple. Some say there is no such thing as an "ex"-New Yorker.
BTW, shortage of Aqua Velva, good bagels, and real pizza here.
Welcome.

Gee, thanks for the warm welcome...
A little about myself..
I was born in Wales in 1949 to a Welsh girl and an American soldier staging for the Normandy invasion.. Spent much time in Wales until I was 5 years old, and then came to the U.S. to stay.
I've been shaving since I attempted to emulate my Dad and use his Gillette DE before I was ready, losing a small piece of my lower lip in the process. I've been shaving with a DE or injector razor ever since, but I never knew of the plethore of different razors, soaps, creams and brushes until just recently.
I'm a retired Tool & Die maker, and I presently split my time between a home on eastern Long Island and a camp in the central Adirondacks. My avocation for the past thirty years has been working with gundogs, setters in particular and chasing birds in the uplands. I'm devoted to our dogs and they are my constant companions..
I started my present shaving life with a Merkur 34C HD. I recently bought myself a Progress that I would eventually like to upgrade to a Mergress, but I'm so happy with the Progress of late that I don't want to part with it. I also have a black handle Super Speed, Slim adjustable and a Fatboy.. all near mint. I'd love to have a red tip Super Speed, as it just might be the "holy grail" I've been seeking, but I haven't had success in procuring one yet. Future purchases will probably be an EJ D89, and if the new iKon closed comb pans out as promised, one of those also. I fell in love with that razor when I saw it. Crafted from stainless steel with CNC machines.. an ex metalworker's nirvana!
I'm currently assembling a selection of soaps and all the other accoutrements that make the shaving experience highly enjoyable..
I'm hoping to fit in well and be a part of this fine community.
Thanks once again for the warm welcome!

Welcome, Blacksetter. Though I live in Minnesota now, I was born in Brooklyn and spent the first 20 years of my life in the Huntington/Smithtown area. Sadly, I haven't been back to "the Island" in maybe 20-25 years. Probably would not recognize the place.
Anyway, it's a great bunch of folks here. Please stick around!
