What cool add-ons do you have for your ride?

Ok, I was thinking maybe I should get a steering wheel cover, with or without those knobby projections, since my last steering wheel looked positively worn down. Got me to thinking what other things that might make a car more comfortable should be considered. So, tell me, what have you added to your car to make it more comfortable, not necessarily better to look at, like chrome outside or better rims, etc.

Something like this? You can probably get an edge cover for the rear view mirror as well. Looks nice on a BMW and really makes a statement.

A steering wheel cover like that shown positively screams for matching fuzzy dice hanging from the rear-view mirror (one of those little bobble head doggies ensconced on the rear deck would also add a nice touch).

A wool blanket, bottle of lime Perrier, trailmix and jerky and a few old Penquin classic paperbacks. This is for those times I may get stuck waiting for somebody beyond my emergency kit.

I have been thinking about adding HD radio. I have been getting up so early lately that the regular NPR newscast isn't yet on.

Aside from the butterfly sticker on the back window, the wife's van has nothing added as it's pretty well equippped from the factory, and my car (a 1992 Chevy Caprice Classic) is one of the most comfortable cars I've ever owned. The only thing I've added to it is a Sirius radio.

My truck, on the other hand, is a pretty basic old truck and I've done a good bit to it and plan on quite a bit more. The stereo has been totally revamped with a CD/HD radio/MP3 player deck in the dash, a Sirius radio connected to that and playing through Infiniti speakers and Alpine subs. I've added a sliding rear window, tinted the side windows to match, and plan on replacing the bech seat with some later model buckets and a center console. It's also getting a keyless entry and power door locks this summer, if I have time before I ship out to Afghanistan again.

Seriously, they do a remarkable job of softening the cratered roads around here without making the car roll over on its door handles when cornering. Way more comfortable. Other than that, though, it's all been mechanical stuff for me.

Definitely iPod integration -- and not one of those FM transmitters - I use one in my wife's car and it's only passable for spoken word. Whereas the hard-wire usb/iPod specific interface on my Santa Fe is wonderful - and takes full advantage of the 10-speaker Infinitti car audio system.

GPS is another. I am a TomTom fan - but Garmin is also very popular - mainly for their somewhat better maps in North America. TomTom is vastly superior in Europe and the UK - but you wouldn't notice much difference if you haven't used both before.

Get really good floor mats. I purchased some high-end pant savers 12 years ago and continue to use them in my new Santa Fe. They have been through 3 cars (not including the new vehicle) and still look brand new - not to mention they really keep the floor clean and free of debris and dirt.

If I were to get a new pickup, which I won't, I'd make sure it had a couple of nice Flowmaster mufflers, a bedliner and a homemade plywood and black outdoor carpet lockable bed cap for it. I realize that pickups nowadays are fully loaded and should be for $40 or $50 grand, but there was a time when vehicles were a lot of fun to mess around with.

I've recently added on a HKS Legamax exhaust (Muffler and midpipe) for my Evo X!! I now love the exhaust note and the more aggressive on my ride!!
