Numismatics

I’m a numismatist. An area of special interest has always been silver dollars. Mostly Morgan Dollars, but Peace and Trade dollars as well. The Trade dollar was the only coin minted that was not circulated within the US. It was used for trade with China in the late 1800’s. Many have “chop marks”, a Chinese character stamped into the coin by the Chinese merchant that was a guarantee of the coin’s value.

Tonight’s razor is a Case Red Imp 132.

Friday:

Gillette Model #58 & LB Wilkinson blade
Omega boar
D R Harris's Rose shave cream
D R Harris's Pink A/S
Floris's Original Gentlemen's Cologne

Well, as has been my experiance with the boar brush I own, this one also seemed to be more effective with a top shelf English cream than with hard soap. With the Harris's cream I was able to get a somewhat more protective lather and one that was available for the full three passes. Granted, there was nothing left to do my usual extra lather florish at the end, but at least there was enough to effectively complete the shave. If I hang in there with this thing in an attempt to win the Plisson prize I think it will have to be with creams.

Well, Gordon, I'm a large non-fan of the pig as well, and if you can't make it the full month, and if the offeror wants to extend the challenge to someone else, I'll man up. Yes, I know, awfully big of me.

Omega 11137 brush
UK Palmolive cream
1912 GEM SE razor*
PTFE coated T. Pella
Thayer's aftershave

*Thought it'd be perfect today. Technique must have been a bit off, or my skin has gotten more sensitive. Anyway, a very close shave but with some irritation. Feel like a newbie again...

Good Saturday morning all...

'56 Gillette Red Tip w/ Sharpedge (7OCY)
Semogue 2009 LE #19
Cella ss (or is it sc?)
Dickinson's WH
Lea a/s balm
Acqua di Selva Edt

First use of the Cella...I loaded the brush as if it were a soap and had more than enough for three passes. The Red Tip/7OCY combination left me with a BBS shave and the Lea provided a nice soothing finish topped off by the Acqua di Selva. Off in a short while to watch my son's team play a double header...baseball and the driving season has begun.
