AoS Sandalwood edt
Back to the DE. The SE interlude was to get me to focus on technique, which I did, but I truly love the 1904. I understand that there is a certain romanticism in the SE, and I get really close shaves with them, but I don't enjoy the process as much as a straight or DE. Maybe my ornate-handled Ever-Ready would be more pleasurable than the short-handled GEM I used over the weekend, but I can't be bothered finding out right now.

Omega 643174
Merkur 1904/Wilkinson Classic
Pacific All Natural Shaving Cream
Pinaud Eau de Portugal
Testing a new brush this morning from the Omega Artificial Badger premium synthetic line up. This knot is a little looser and somewhat floppier than my trusty 90081 but does have a very soft feel while face lathering. It's a little tough to control when starting your lather but once it loads up it behaves pretty much like all brushes. Not sure where or how it will fit into my rotation but I do very much like the acrylic handle.

Futur
Super Iridium
Cella SS
Omega 20086 Boar--”Bambino”
Dickinson’s Witch Hazel
Ogallala Bay Rum A/S Toner
An excellent shave this morning, but not that satisfying. I face lathered for 3 passes, and face lathering--for me, anyway--just doesn’t make the luxurious lather that I like. Thinking it might just be the small brush, I tried bowl lathering for the final pass, the touchup in the chin area. In no time, I had mounds of creamy lather. I’m trying to find the best setup for travel, applying the constraints of size, weight, and simplicity. I have more ideas to try, but canned goo is not among them. I really did get a great shave, so I shouldn’t complain.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:
old Macys brush
1958 Executive/Schick Krona 'super stainless'
Penhaligons Racquets SC
Barclay Crocker Bay Rum AS balm
St Johns 'Bay Rum' cologne
First time using this Krona blade, although I've read a bunch about em. Most people seem to really like these, and put me in that corner. Very sharp and smooth.........reminds me a good bit of the Iridium blade.
From what I've read, the Krona is supposed to be a very long lasting blade, so we'll see. Unfortunately, there was only one blade in the dispenser..........
BBS results,
Martin

AOS Pure badger
Olivia's Churchill Crema (tallow)
Moss Scuttle
Muhle R89 DE razor
Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (yellow)
H. Bronnley AS
I am still surprised at how quickly the lather is generated and how rich it is with the pure badger brush. Olivia's hard cream/soft soap is a finicky latherer, like MWF. The brush is softening but it is not a luxurious feeling. This is also my first use of one of the well rated "sharp" blades in the Muhle. This new head really is a toned-down version of the Merkur in terms of blade exposure and aggressiveness. I don't like using the "sharp" blades, Gillette yellows, Super Iridiums, for example, in my Merkurs. This razor hit the mark for me in terms of design and function.
