Anyone ever handle this particular safety razor ?

Looks like an interesting design.

I may be wrong, but I believe these (French?) razors take a proprietary blade.

Yes, it's a razor with a proprietary blade.

Apparently, you can cut notches in the end of a standard blade and make it work.

More interested in the adjustable mechanism it uses , as it does take razor specific blades but that can easily be modified.

Thoughts on a prototype yet?

Juggling ideas and always like the end user feedback when possible.

I like how the adjuster ring sits and the 3 piece design.

I've never tried one of these because of messing with blades and because the razor was expensive to buy.

How does it shave? If you think you might build something like it, then I suggest you yourself cut notches in some blades and shave with this lovely beast for a few weeks. Your own likes and dislikes after that time will probably be good indicators of what direction to continue.

The first time I saw one, I was immediately attracted to it, but the blade issue was a dealbreaker.

I'd love to see a modern version of this that used standard DE blades.

That looks very similar to Personna's Precision adjustable, but the Personna used standard blades.

I have one of these, but have never used it because of the blade issue. It looks pretty nifty and the fact that it's an adjustable makes it even cooler.

Looking at it again, without having used it, I sort of wonder if the adjustment mechanism is too far down on the handle?

Sometimes it's easy to mistakenly switch the adjustment setting if it's too low.

It's hard to tell from the photo, though, and I haven't used it, so it might be a non-issue.

I don't think it it's to far down the handle for the adjustment doovy. It is a short handled razor though.

I'd like to have one that takes standard blades and has a handle of the same diameter, but about 2 or 3 inches longer, similar to the Gillette super adjustable.

I just want to encourage Pureslab with these thoughts of an adjustable. Assuming it was machined well, I'd have a hard time resisting. All of the inspirations I've seen have also been worth pursuing as well.

That's the same razor as the op's, just different coloring on the stem knob.

I for one would love to see a modern stainless adjustable. Not sure it can be done based off of the Gibbs design because it seems you'd have bare stainless adjuster ring turning on a bare stainless neck, causing wear and drag? I don't know, I'm not a metal worker. Anyway, good luck with this, I'm staying tuned!
