SOTD: Feb 14 thru Feb 20, 2011
Friday
Razor: Gillette Sheraton OC
Blade: Schick Plus Platinum (4th)
Soap: Prairie Creations - Tibetan Amber
Brush: Omega 48 (The Chrome Beast)
Toner: Thayers Lavender WH
A/S: Nivea Post-Shave Balm
Cologne: Boucheron - Jaipur
First shave since Tuesday and, even with 3 days growth, this old Schick blade was smooth as butter, and absurdly comfortable; even on the 4th shave. Maybe there is something to be said for these old blades, and is isn't just nostalgia?

Razor - SA (set to 3)
Blade - Derby
Brush - Altesse
Soap - Cella
Toner - Thayers alcohol-free witch hazel
A/S - TOBS Victorian lime
I like the Derbys... not as much as the 7 O'Clocks, but they seem to work well for me in the Slim Adjustable. No nicks! Nice and smooth.

Queen Charlotte Soap: Basilica
jojoba oil
Got the Queen Charlotte Soap on Wednesday and have been using it since. I'm kind of enamored with it. It's a soft soap and produces a nice, dense, slick, shiny moisturizing lather. Performance wise, it reminds me of Cella, which is my #1. The scent of Basilica is earthy and incense like what I imagine a monastery smells like. Very unique and right up my ally. True to artisan products, it lathers differently than the English creams and the like, but lathers great nonetheless. Recommended!

End of one experiment and the beginning of another.
Lord Platinum on its seventh day in the B4 Red Tip: No fun. Hasn't been for the past few days despite using Tabac, Aveeno in a can, Pitralon, Valobra stick, and today TOBS Jermyn Street (thanks, Chris1978). I think only King of Shaves is slick enough to protect me from that combination.
The Pitralon will never contact my face again. Second worst chemical burn ever. Nice plastic storage container.
Oddly, the TOBS/JS felt slightly "burny", despite being labeled for sensitive skin. This was possibly due to the epidermal assault of the past week. I only used a generous half-peanut sized blob of cream but it built, and built, and built more lather. My theory is that the TOBS cream, whatever its formulation, is exceedingly dense and mixing a too product-rich lather could cause problems.
