FS: SAVILE ROW 3226/ price increase

Post by gil3591 »

ok, haven't sold a brush in a while so i've decided to clear the den a little to make room for a new aquisition. i'm selling a savile row 3226 silvertip. this is a high quality larger brush. not a shedder nor a lather hog. not a limp noodle either! it is pictured on the right next to my polo 8 for size comparison. knot is 26mm, loft is 59mm and the handle is 70mm. this brush is comfy in an average to large hand and is long enough for bowl lathering but still not too large for face lathering. the brush is about 2 months old and in rotation with 4 other brushes. new it sold for $135.00 plus shipping, i'll sell it for $115.00 delivered conus. pm for paypal address. i don't see why anyone would not like this brush

ok, guess i have to reduce it to: $105.00 geez! :? have a couple of personna hospital blades i'll include

$99 shipped

12/03: $99 is void, new price back to $105 and will go to $110.00 on monday 12/5

price is now $110.00

Very tempting Gil, alas I have a 3126 so I can't justify buying the same knot again seeing as recently bought an M&F Blonde Badger here on B/S/T and am awaiting delivery
of the Semogue 2011 LE Bristle #2 as well.

Best of luck with the sale, the 26mm SR knot is superb.

Turning conventional marketing wisdom on its ear.

Well, I'm not going to consider buying it until it's back up to $115. So there.

Gil, it's a very nice brush, for certain. Your pricing is reasonable too. I've got about a half dozen brushes on my short list, and SR is one of those, just in a different size range, otherwise. . . .

I think it is time to bump the price up a bit.

Gil, I support this idea. I think too many items get way undervalued on sales threads in the name of trying to get them sold quickly. I am chief of sinners in this regard. The Savile Row brushes are top-class, and even having recently gotten hold of what I thought was my grail brush, I'm not sure I like it any better than my SR 3122.

I also think guys wait around for prices to keep dropping - I know I sometimes take a gamble that a price will go lower before an item sells - and I have found myself lowering my own prices too quickly at times, and then guys pounce when the cost bottoms out.

This brush is still worth far more than you're asking, IMO, and it'd be crazy to let it go for less.
Regards,
Tim

Mind you, an economist would tell us that any service or thing is worth only what someone else is willing to pay for it. It does not appear that the worth of this brush has been established yet, looking either up or down.

Perhaps. One should always maintain a price with which he is comfortable. But a perusal of prices on the forums for the last couple years reveals that this model brush generally has sold for $83-99.
