Sunday morning:

Vitos soft Italian soap
Rooney 3/1 SS
Kampfe 1914 Cru-Steel SE razor (small lather catcher)
GEM SS ptfe (6)
Bay Rum

"New to me" lather catcher and just the way I like 'em, aggressive, and the blade is felt for every stroke. No false sense of security with this razor by not feeling the blade! Great SE razor shave. 2 1/3 passes for a BBS.

Sunday

Becker scuttle
Homemade frankincense & myrrh preshave oil
Somerset Simpson Chubby 3 Manchurian brush
Barbon shaving cream (thanks, Teiste)
Feather AS razor
Iridium Super blade (2)
Aramis Tuscany aftershave

My favorite brush whipped up the Barbon quickly and easily. The Barbon has a very pleasant, sweet sort of vanilla-almond scent. It has great cushion, although the glide left something to be desired, making the Iridium drag some, which isn't normal for it. And now I'm BBS and ready for this grey day.

Sunday, December 18th

Razor: Gibbs Plus/Minus
Blade: NOS Gibbs Preprietary Blade
Brush: Rudy Bey Beehive
Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Soap: Wilkinson Sword Shave Stick
A/S: Klar Sandalwood aftershave

I purchased the Gibbs Plus/Minus razor from Harvey (aka Michael), a forum member and a great customer. Unlike my Gibbs Click Pen, this razor takes the Gibbs proprietary blade which Harvey was kind enough to include in abundance. The Plus/Minus razor has two different blade exposures -one more aggressive than the other. I used the Plus side for the first and last pass and the minus side for against the grain. I ended up with a BBS shave but did suffer a couple of weepers. I may need to adjust my technique slightly for this razor. A splash of Klar Sandalwood and I am ready to jump into the accounting work that I need to catch up on.

Sun, Dec 18
Brush: Vie-Long Horse
Soap/Creme: Arko
Razor: Gillette Old
Blade: Gillette Goal
Pre: Shower & glycerin soap
Post: Witch Hazel
Hair Groom: just the conditioners from wildroot Shampoo
Result: The Arko and vie-long horse made a great lather together, once again. It really was especially rich and protective. it remained slow to make, but with results that really were first rate. The Gillette Goal in the actual Old style seemed a little better, but still was a pretty middling blade, especially by the end, where it was tugging quite a bit on my atg pass. I've had decent results with the blade in other razors, but it has disappointed pretty thoroughly in my open combs.

Monday Night:

Schick Injector Type I razor (short black handle)
Schick Super Chromium blade (NOS, US production)

Semogue 1305 boar brush
Queen Charlotte Soaps Key Lime (EO) hard soap

Lather made in a bowl, as always.

Dickinson's Witch Hazel, blended with a bit of lather and massaged into the skin.

I find this soap easier to lather with boar, as it foams easily with badger.

I'm trying the Schick Injector again, with the Super Chromium blade as a baseline with which to compare the Personna 74 blades that Larry sent me - thanks again, Larry! - and Schick's best Plus Platinum blades.
