SOTD: February 06 thru February 12, 2012
Monday evening:
Turkish horse hair brush Nr. 6
Dettol laced with Kiss My Face Unscented and whipped up in a bowl
Super Adjustable, P-1, set at 4, then 3 (final pass & touch-up)
Treet Platinum blade, 1st shave
Body Shop Razor Relief, <2009 formula
Temperature got up to 50F here today, enough to justify a warm weather cream like Dettol.
Treet Platinum for me is a good middle-of-the-road blade, though on the expensive side. This one came
from a pack that was a free sample with an order from Gianni. Overall a DFS from an unremarkable setup.

Prep: Hot shower
Soap/cream: Portman Square English Style Cream - Tropical Coconut
Brush: Ever Ready C40
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable I-2 birth year/quarter, (5)
Blade: Derby (3)
Cold water rinse
Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Superior 70 Bay Rum
Today I used a sample I received from Phil @ BullGoose - the Portman Square English Style Cream in
the Tropical Coconut scent. Last week I tried the Orange Vetiver scent, and found that face lathering
was best for me, though I normally bowl lather. The Orange Vetiver scent tingled my skin a little, but
didn't cause any real irritation. Today's Tropical Coconut scent felt very comfortable for me, could be
a better choice than the Orange Vetiver for someone with sensitive skin.
Really great shave today - this "croap" performs! Good cushion during my 3 passes, and really slick
during touch-ups afterwards. Used some bay rum aftershave to top of the tropical experience!

Razor: Gibbs Click Pen
Blade: Polsilver
Brush: Vie-Long BGS 2012 Prototype (Horse)
Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Soap: DRH Almond Shave Stick
A/S: Proraso Balm
I wanted to see how the Vie-Long prototype handled a shave stick and it passed with flying colors. The horse hair does have a little scritch but it really whipped up some great lather...enough for 3 passes. The Gibbs loaded with a fresh Polsilver mowed down the stubble with ease leaving me baby faced. A little Proraso balm and I am ready for this relatively rare rainy southern California day.

Ogallala Bay Rum, Lemon Grass Shaving Soap
Z3 Super Speed
Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (Dark Blue)
Fourth day with this blade and it still laughs at my whiskers.
Today I tried the "GeoFatboy" grip: Higher up on the handle with the little finger (pinky) supporting the handle from below. Far more stable than the "Kyle" grip (two/three fingers at the base of the handle) but you really need to be aware of pressure.
One pass was all it took. I would not recommend this for beginners.
Pinaud Bay Rum to finish.
