Shower Shaving...the final chapter; perhaps...

For the last few months I have been shaving in the shower a good deal, and thought I would share my findings.
Hardware:
Brush: C&E BBB or Omega Artificial Badger...these two brushes both
work quite well and dry quickly.
Mirror: 6" round 5X mirror with large suction cup on rear found at
Walgreen's. I only put it on the wall when I am about to shave;
otherwise it lives in the shower caddy hung from the shower
head.
Razor: Whatever you like as long as it lives securely in the caddy.
The ones I have used the most are a Schick Injector M
series, Goodfella DE and a Mach 3 Turbo. The Goodfella is
a fine DE for the shower because it is quite mild and can be
made a little more aggressive by loosening the head a
touch.
Software:
Shave soap: Again, whatever you like that lives happily in the
caddy. I have been using small inexpensive pucks by VDH,
William's and have some regular size pucks from Classic
Shaving on order. I use them as I would a shave stick.
Shave cream: Anything you like in a caddy friendly container.
Technique is quite simple...defog the mirror with a little bath soap, rub
some cream or shave soap on a hot wet face lather up and go for it.
Results are usually BBS in very little time. I still enjoy the traditional
wet shave, but the shower shave is fast and still quite rewarding

I cannot pull off a shower shave. I end up looking like I have a case of mange, so I have to shave again.

i don't believe that i've ever shaved in the shower. always at the sink.

I do it from time-to-time but I've never really enjoyed it... I like having a counter, a large mirror and taking my time. But, there is definitely something to be said about shaving in a steam filled environment. I've always found my absolute best shaves were right after stepping out of a steam room.

Shower shave every day. Got the in-line mirror that attaches to the shower head, shelf holds everything. Just easier for me

I was a shower shaver when I was using Gillette/Schick cartridges.

I've been DE shaving for the last few weeks ... I only shave over the sink now.

I've never tried shaving in the shower, seems a bit awkward for me. I want my shower to be over and dried off before moving on to the next part of the morning ritual.

I used to shower shave and had pretty decent results, back then it was a Gillette Fusion with either T&H UC or Anthony Logistics shave cream both used brushless. Knowing what I now know with regards to beard growth and so on I think it could work again.

I can shave in the shower maybe 3 days in a row and then my skin gets to sensitive for it. I think it may be actually to close for me to do it that many days in a row. Sure love the feeling after though.

I have my routine, shaving always after shower and at the sink.
Sometimes after a hot shower, I need to look at the mirror corners since after lathering it is stil not clear.

I want to towel dry my body before the shave and I think it must be awkard to be all wet while shaving, not having even dried the hair I have left lol. Just my opinion

I believe that shaving in the shower becomes more enjoyable after you have done it for a while and perfected (or at least gotten a handle on) your technique. When I first started, there was a bit of stress...what razor, brush, cream, soap to use...where do I put it when when not using said item?..why is the mirror falling off the wall all the time?...will I take too much time and make a polar bear woozy by using too much hot water?
I found that planning ahead and keeping it simple made things go smoothly. Probably your most important piece of gear is a good shower caddy. Figure out what shave gear you want to use then shop for a caddy and visualize how your stuff will fit before purchasing.
Anyway, I believe it is all certainly worth the effort and no polar bears have passed out

How's this for shower shaving. Back when (maybe 20 years ago or more), I lived in a studio apartment. It was basically one big room. Kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath all in one. I didn't want to wake my girlfriend at the time, so when I showered and shaved I learned to shave in the dark. To this day, I get a better shave doing it this way. I don't use a mirror and only shave by touch.

When I use my Feather, however, I do use a mirror, sometimes in the shower, sometimes at the sink.

Maybe it's just me, but I think you'd be wasting a lot of water shaving in the shower. Of course, if you took a Navy shower where you only turned on the water when you rinsed off the lather it would be ok.

By adding a shave to my regular shower routine extends the shower by 5 or 6 minutes, and there is no water shortage currently in the Northwest corner of Washington State. As I said, the Polar Bears are down with it, but I do compensate by not giving the dog and cat fresh water on shower day. They whine a good deal, but I can deal with it.

I did it once and I did not care for the results.

My wife complained about the whiskers I left in the drain.
