Mournful Monday
Moss scuttle
Homemade frankincense & myrrh preshave oil
Somerset Simpson Beaufort 3 Pure brush
Houbigant Fougere Royale shaving soap
Wilkinson Sticky razor
Wilkinson Light Brigade blade (4)
Houbigant Fougere Royale aftershave
The FR is really a great old soap. Now that I've figured out its water ratio, it lathers well, and its cushion and glide rival those of any modern soaps.

Prep: Hot shower; Yardley bath bar
Lather: De Vergulde Hand "extra fris" - face lather
Brush: Semogue 1250
Razor: Gem Enigma (HFT, G-Bar, etc…)
Blade: Ted Pella PTFE (1); 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse; Krampert's Finest Bay Rum
Very nice getting back to my beloved SEs after some DE trials. The Enigma worked well but was slightly lacking. I must be jonesing for a OCMM shave. I broke out the boar brush on the DVH & it performed well.

Whew! Anyone else having problems accessing the forum today?
Anyway, moving on,
Monday morning:
Hot towel face prep
TOBS Almond cream
Simpson Special pure badger
VAS VC1
Feather SE blade (eight) (The software turned an 8 within () into a smilie)
Bay Rum
Today was another test of the sample of TOBS Almond that I received from Gary. The first time I used it I used enough for my extremely soft water; about 1/3-1/2 of a snurdle. Today I used about 2/3 of a snurdle to see if I could get rid of the chemical scent that I got the first time I used it. It was even worse. Today it was definitely and unmistakeably there. The TOBS Almond functions nicely, but the chemical/burnt smell is the deal breaker for me. It isn't merely unpleasant, at this level of useage, it's worse than that. If I had to use a full snurdle I don't know if I'd keep it on my face. What a shame. It works fine otherwise.
Other than that, a great shave. And 8 shaves from the Feather blade! And it's still going too. That makes them much more affordable.
It's been long enough for my BR to fade into the background and the off smell of the TOBS Almond is becoming noticeable. Not pleasant.
