Japanese have had to mold a society of many people on a small group of islands. Buddhism works well as you can retreat inward to look outward.
Contact with any animal larger than a small dog is very rare.
When I worked the Grand Canyon a japanese tourist on a mule going into that seperate world was probably stranger than future contact with Extra Terrestial intelligence will be.
It sounds odd, but a better emotional release VS building Mitsubishi Zeros :lol:

Interesting. Wendell, here's something for you: sheep racing on Sark. The races take place every year, usually in July. We've attended a few times and can report that none of the sheep were injured. Unfortunately we won't be able to attend this year's races, as we'll be going there at the end of May, which is too early.
