Four Manchurian Polo's

It took a long road to walk. In fact 7 years, but now they are united, standing side by side.
Quite a difference between the old David Carter era Manchurian and the current type. The latter reminds me somehow of the old two band best badger, used by David Carter et al.

The knots of the current Simpsons are outstandingly made btw. Exactly my cup of tea...

Loving my Somerset CH3 and CH2 Bests (spares are always a good idea - my father used to carry at least four spare fanbelts in the boot of his Saab 96), I tried a Simfix Manchurian Super CH2. Very dense. Almost unusably dense. Doesn't bloom. In fact, indistinguishable from the custom made two band Vulfix 41, or a Shavemac D01. Scrub on an Italian soft soap and end up with next to nothing. Rather sad. Looks nice though.

I also have quite a few Somerset Simpsons and after reading stories here, have held out on buying any Simfixes.

Have too agree they are the Earl Grey of the shaving brush world.

Those look great, Peter. I think the Polos are the most regal of the Simpson brushes.

Update! Just got it Saturday. Has not seen a use yet - likely tomorrow. Also got the pictured GYLE as well. Mark graciously threw in a tub of Vulfix Lavender shaving cream as well.

Just curious - it's hard to tell - are the new brushes' labels stamped with lampblack or are they engraved and filled.

I am showing my state of being uninformed or unfamiliar. I've read Peter's remarks several times. Are the photos of modern Manchurians? The reason I'm asking is because Mark told me (unless I misunderstood), the current Manchurian isn't available in the extra long loft the PL14 requires, thus my assumption these are older versions.

I think the 12 and 14 are the older Simpson-only versions, and the 8 and 10 are the newer Simpson/Vulfix versions.

At least the lettering on each would indicate such.
