I just found out we're all "acoustic shavers"

Thoughts and input on anything related to wet shaving or men's grooming.

Maybe in some way it refers to single edge razors, which "sing" when they're cutting the hair.

For me the acoustics is part and parcel of the shave and it is the reason why I can't understand how gents shave with running water....they miss out on an integral part of the ritual

Full hollow ground straight razors sing, some more than others, while the heavier grinds (1/4 for example) don't provide as much audible feedback, but there is some. The Cobra Classic has a pleasant and dependable little song that reassures me it's working. "Whistle while you work!" (Snow White & The 7 Dwarfs :) )

Gotta hear the "pings" - it's like having more cowbell.

+1 the sound. OK, I must have a great shave, but the audio definitely helps. That's something I like about SE razors.

Acoustic shaving... what a crappy name though. It's OK in Urbainia I suppose. Let the Urbainians use the term. :bull

Out of all the things I've had to listen to in my life it's a pleasure to close the bathroom door and hear something pleasing.

On the subject of acoustic shaving . . . when I first got my Merkur Vision, I couldn't believe the auditory feedback. Sounded like a rock crusher next to my ear CrunchCrunchCrunch. Very loud, but you knew it was cutting something By God!

I guess I am missing out on all that with the vibrator turned on on my Fusion. By the time I polish with Schick injector the stubble is too short.

At least the vibrator was in the razor. :? I swear that the Gem 1912 is designed to magnify the sounds of whiskers shearing. Over twelve hours now w/o stubble from the aforementioned razor.

It's difficult for me to shave without some audible feedback. I prefer my hollow grind straight razors for this reason. This lets me know when I'm getting that last bit of stubble.

Well, acoustic indicates electric razors more due to their noise :)
