Tuesday AM 09-11-12

Becker scuttle
Somerset Simpson Persian Jar 3 2-Band Super (25/53)
DR Harris Windsor shaving cream
Feather AS
Gillette Platinum Plus (2)
DR Harris Windsor aftershave

A great shave. The Becker texture seems to aid lather production more than my other scuttles. The PJ3, although truly a great brush, is possibly just a touch too big for my taste. And the Windsor cream, although very good, tends to get tacky/sticky by the end of a pass. The aftershave, with its touch of melon, is a fine finish.

Gillette Model #58 & Gillette 'Swede'
Plisson #12 HMW
Penhaligon's English Fern hard shave soap ( tallow )
D R Harris's Pink A/S
Taylors Sandalwood

I'm well into the second week with this blade. Normally I'll only use a blade for one week ( if it will last that long ) and toss it. But these are the very last few of the true 'Swedish Gillette' blades that I have so I've decided to use them for as long as they will last.

Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Razor: Merkur Long Handled Progress
Blade: Gillette Dark Blue
Brush: Simpson Colonel X2L Best
Soap or Cream: Proraso Classic Cream
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Proraso Classic Splash

Given that the prediction is for a very warm day today, menthol sounded good to me. Actually, I enjoy an occasional menthol shave any time of the year. The shave this morning was great–very smooth and, of course, cooling and refreshing. A shave is more than just slicing stubble, as we wet shavers know. A good, comfortable shave can set the tone for the day.
