Hammam Bouquet would be my vote from Pens. The powdery dry down that seems to last most of the day is my rational.

Well, in a way, I don't know as I'd consider any of the Penhaligon's scents to be quite what I think of as a 'barbershop' style scent even though William Penhaligon's shop was originally an upper crust barber's establishment. I suppose if I had to pick one that would be sort of in that catagory it would be Blenheim Bouquet. BTW, are you aware that you started a very similar thread in the 'Buying and Selling' section? It fits better here, in the Colognes & Aftershave section I think.

Gordon you think that
Floris Nº 89 Vintage can work in this category?

Figaro, I loved the old vintage Floris No 89 and I wish I had some more of it, but I never considered it as a 'barbershop style' scent, at least not by my definition of that term. No 89 was a discreetly classy scent not a casual everyday splash. A bit more of a 'jacket and tie' sort of cologne I think. Of course, everyone has his own idea of what a 'barbershop scent' is/would be like. I understand, although I never got the opportunity to try them, that years ago Floris used to offer more masculine versions of lavender and of lime colognes/aftershaves that might have been more in the ( upper crust ) 'barbershop' sort of style.

Agreed. If I recall correctly, there are similarities between RG & Pens Racquets. Pens has the spicy masculine powder notes... minus the anise.

Both very good frags.

I try all Pens of the list, and Racquets is the winner with difference

-Sartorial : good cologne but have a "medicinal" note that dislike

-Hamman Bouquet: dated IMO

-Blenheim Bouquet : dated IMO

-Racquets : perfect Barbershop, great topnotes and shave sensation. wonderful. i think that this is very superior to Rive Gauche (IMO). mix european/Usa barbershop.

PD: is Floris Sandalwood a candidate to floris barbershop?

thanks

No, not IMO. It's a rich 'lush' sort of Sandalwood and could double as a ladies cologne. Quality stuff but decidedly not 'barbershop'.

Penhaligon's Douro(Lords). Though it has been watered down in it's latest rendition it still is a marvelous cologne. Barbershop indeed.

Figaro, It was okay, really the most recent Penhaligon's scent that I would actually wear but I never bought a full bottle of it because I much prefer their older classic scents, especially their English Fern.
