Just a Day Trip

Post by churchilllafemme »

We had a gorgeous fall day here today, so my wife and I went for a drive up to Snoqualmie. We had lunch at the Salish Lodge overlooking Snoqualmie Falls. There was lot of water due our recent heavy rains, and the falls were beautiful.

After lunch we went for an hour-long ride on the old Spokane, Portland & Seattle train, which ended by going past the falls again on the other side. Here is the lodge and a view downstream from the train window.

During the ride we saw some other old trains, as well as a classic car someone had brought out for the day.

My wife and I had fun imagining we were on the Orient Express.

All in all, a great day.

Nice photos, John. I haven't been there for awhile, myself. Might be worth taking a roll of film out of the freezer ( 8) ) and making a day trip there before the snows make travel over Snoqualmie pass more difficult.

Have you had that famous breakfast at the Salish Lodge?

Yes, my sister had her wedding rehearsal breakfast at the original Snoqualmie Falls Lodge restaurant many, many years ago, and I had the "honey poured from heaven" (poured from very high up, like a waterfall) onto my biscuit at that meal. I don't think I've eaten the breakfast there since. Our lunch today was upstairs in their Attic Lounge, which I think was a later addition.
