Well I tried this Baume.BE stuff everyone was raving about. I was planning on using it for my G7DC starting tomorrow, but after today will shelve it for my den clearance coming up in a week or two. I may have received a bad batch; it was yellow and stubbornly refused to produce a decent lather, and believe me I tried everything - little water, lots of water, face lathering, bowl lathering, three different brushes - to no effect. The lather produced was frankly meh, and not slick at all! Thank heavens for Argan oil which did add sufficient slickness. I completed the shave, but certainly will not use this stuff again!
Other than the sub par lathering experience, the rest of the shave went well. The Saito SK3 could easily become one of my favorite razors. It delivered the same level of velveteen shave it delivered on its first outing. I loaded my Schick Type L Paul Revere with a Schick Twinjector blade and cleaned my dome stubble right down to the skin line. I’ll admit that after my mug lather, I grabbed for my faithful Nancy Boy and had a great velveteen dome shave. The Paul Revere has usually been a relatively mild safety razor, but the Schick Twinjector seemed to increase its efficiency. The shave was refreshing, cooling and velveteen despite the dud lather start. All worked well. I feel refreshed and ready for the day!
RAZOR: Saito SK3 (Mug), Schick Type L International Silver Paul Revere Model (Dome)
BLADE: Schick Injector II
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by Argan oil
BRUSH: Alpha Shaving T-400 Tribute w/ Two Band Badger Ferrule
CREAM: Baume.BE (Mug). Nancy Boy Signature (Dome)
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with NB brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme Balm.

SOTN Friday
prep - shower with Caprina Fresh Goat’s Milk Original Formula bar soap
razor - Gillette '46 Aristocrat
blade - Astra Superior Platinum (1)
brush - Simpson Special 1 Best Badger
soap - RazoRock For Chicago
post - warm water rinse, DSA “Pure & Natural” alum, cold water rinse
aftershave - Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla splash, and lots of it
irrelevant prop - rusty 3/4" slice of flat-bottom rail
I always forget what a treat it is can be to use a brand-new blade.
Tallow soap with aloe vera and shea butter is nice too.
One terrific shave tonight.

Well time for me to kick off my G7DC shave. As many of you know, my focus is on sharp stuff, not smelly things. So with that in mind I selected my new wood handled DX and dumped the Feather Proguard blade I’d used for my one and only shave with it for a Feather Super, my goto blade for my AC safety razors. So that took care of the mug shave. For my dome shave I selected my Schick Paul Revere L Type, originally a very short-lived collaboration between International Silver and Schick back in the mid to late seventies. Schick L Types were the first Schicks that could accommodate the Schick Injector II blades generally referred to as twinjectors, since they are a twin blade of sorts. But very different spacing-wise with respect to the Gillette twin blade carts which they were intended to compete with. Well they lost the marketing battle, but have never produced ingrown hairs for me, which is more than I can say for my one cart experience with the Omnishaver.
Anyway, back to the shave. I’m grateful for the straight razor experience for helping me develop the required lightness of touch which served me well until I reached my troublesome neck. I needed to back off and settle for a DFS on the neck, or there would have been blood. I’ll need to rethink my technique for tomorrow’s shave. I’ve noticed that Jared of Superior shave grasps the blade with two hands when shaving ATG on his neck In his videos. I’ll give that a shot tomorrow. My Nancy Boy shave cream is quite low, but I still expect there’s at least 4 or 5 shaves left in the tub. The fresh tub should reach me before this tub’s death knell arrives. The dome shave also wasn’t as close as I would like as this razor’s shave seems less efficient than the E Type or my Supply razors. Oh well, that’s the purpose of this 7 day concentration. Hopefully, by the end of it I’ll have both of these new-to-me razors handled. If not, I’ll extend the focus as many days as necessary. Well, I feel refreshed, although nowhere near velveteen on this first day of this shaving focus exercise.

Vulfix Wild Lavender cream
Yaqi White synthetic brush
Colonial General (v2) razor
Kai Captain Original blade
Pinaud Lilac Vegetal aftershave
Yes, the Veg. I get the urinal cake scent when it’s first applied but, after a 3 or 4 minute dry down, I find it quite pleasant.

Re: SOTD September 7 - September 13, 2020
I might note that the headgear of the Wilkinson Sword cavalryman does not match that worn by the 4th or 13th Light Dragoons, 17th Lancers, or the 8th or 11th Hussars, which between them constituted the 'Light Brigade' at the time of the Crimean War. I think it resembles that of the Royal Scots Greys as commemorated by Lady Butler in Scotland Forever:
Note that the plume on the left side of their shakoes is white, as in the Wilkinson Sword package, not red as worn by the regiments in the Light Brigade.
