Which straight razor did you use today?

Use a straight. You know it makes sense.

Brothers, I'll usually use 2-3 layers of tape on a wedge, then hone normally. It's dependent on what the razor needs.

Superior Razor- Prince Albert's Royal Razor
Klar
23mm Omega knot
Capt. Smith's Bay Rum

Proof to me that all that's made in Sheffield is not gold. This razor doesn't hold an edge well and requires a lot of maintenance to stay shave ready.

Very nice shaving razor, good shave this morning. I'm going to try to complete my vacuum chamber this morning and hopefully stabilize some brush handle wood this weekend. I have a DO 1 Shavemac 3 band knot coming so I have a couple of ideas floating around in my head for handles.

W&B "for barbers use"

23mm Omega knot
Brut Splash On
I'm fairly indifferent to large razors but this one is a good shaver.

Love these little wedges. This will be the last time the 2000 will be in this configuration, it's going to get tweaked. Have a good one.

Oscar, I love my Semogue 2000 just like it is! How are you planning to "tweak" yours? I'm curious!

Brothers, first thing I'll do is take off the collar, that alone will change the feel of the brush. My thoughts and take that for what worth, it that the crimping of the knot with the band spreads the knot. I'll use a slightly oversized hole so the knot fits a little loose and play with the loft. I'll start short, around 53mm and go up it a bit if I need to. I want a dense soft boar that will still open up nicely. I have achieved this with a couple of smaller Omegas and wanted to try this with the "different" Semogue hair. It's an entirely different brush now with an entirely different feel. Is it a better brush? No, not necessarily it's just different than what's available commercially. I just like to experiment and usually end up PIFing many of the handles and brushes I make. You can compare it to a SOC that is well broken in and it will probably take me 5 or 6 weeks to see what I have but I'll be getting some indications sooner.

Gold Dollar
D.R. Harris Eucalyptus
25mm Semogue knot
Osage Rub

A much messed with Gold Dollar but very nice shave this morning. The new knot performed well, I think I'll do a week of bowl lathering to encourage it to open a bit quicker. Pretty much got the feel I was looking for today. Have a good one.

Oscar, is that the knot out of the 2000? Regardless, it's a beauty. And a good shaving brush, for sure.

I use to have a bunch of Pryamid 7's but unfortunately have PIF'd most of them to newbies. I like them, nice shavers.

I recently acquired the Feather Artist Club DX Series Stainless Steel Straight Razor, and I can say that it was a delight to shave this morning. Yes, it takes some exercise until you get that perfect shave going. It's comparable to riding the bicycle, once you get the feeling for it, it's a great pleasure to use it again. You should try it out, it's razor sharp and has a nice grip to it.

I have the CJB Korean take off of the Feather. A nice close shaving razor that I like to use for travel. Kingston, post some pics of your Feather if you get a chance.

Pretty boring week, just using the Hart until I get tired of it. I have a "few" more razors I should get in running order but I'm just to tired or lazy to do it. It's been a long week in the sun. Have a good one.
