have any of the mods been able to hold one yet? does that center ring in the grip feel awkward or is there plenty of room behind it to grip the brush by the end?

No one has them in hand. They are still being produced. Our vendor had held it and said it feels great. We shouldn't have any problems, I don't think.

Executive Shaving and R.A. Rooney will be donating all proceeds to Great Ormond Street Hosiptal for Children
Wow, what a great gesture, this is simply amazing. Thanks Executive Shaving and Rooney. :)

As you can see on page 8, Bargepole (Michael) has an opportunity to visit the hospital and he believes in the cause.

johnnie -

i caught the update with more info about the children's hospital last night and have slept on it... i was wondering if there is any chance the vendor might be able/willing to add the ability to make an additional OPTIONAL donation to the hospital (beyond the $10 included in the brush price).

all i'm thinking is an extra box somewhere - maybe on the brush order page - so that if someone chose to add a little more to the brush purchase price in the name of the hospital they could.

just a thought. thanks.

I know this question might not get a reliable answer, since its still in the prototype phase, but can someone comment on whether the hair shape will be more "lightbulb-shape" or more "fan shape"?

--Mark

(Also, for the record, I probably won't be getting this one. The handle is wayyyy too large for me.)

I was wondering this too, but the handle is 65mm which is just over 2 1/2." In the picture it looks much longer than that.

I was thinking that too, although I was actually thinking about donations without purchasing the brush at all. Some may wish to make a $10 donation and not pay $100 for the brush.

Take a look at this link. I think this might be what you're looking for.

Hi,

I think this is an excellent idea -- I'm not in a position at the moment to be able to buy this gorgeous brush but I'd be delighted to make the 10.00 donation if that option were available as, clearly, would others here. Perhaps there could be a separate "donations" page to go along with the order one? Anyway, a stunning design and a generous offer , congrats to the mods and others involved. My father-in-law worked for years as an othopaedics consultant to the Great Ormand and it looks like the great work they do and the underfunded NHS conditions they do it under continues...

I may have to get in on this one. It would be my second brush as I only have one right now.

Can anyone help me with expectations of this brush?

I have only one brush - a C&E Best Badger.
I believe that it has a knot size of ~23mm

Will the new SMF brush be easier to generate a lather because of its longer handle? Will the density/softness of the hairs make it feel 'floppier'?

I'm assuming that the loft length is about the same as the handle. Is that reasonable?

Will the extra 2mm of knot size make this brush seem uncommonly large?

Sorry for the stupid questions; I just don't know what to expect.

Thanks,
Bob

We should definitley have an update this week and probably by Wednesday. They are in the process of creating the stamp for the SMF.com logo. We should see some nice photographs real soon.

...crickets...

Just kidding. Say, if we want to have someone get this for us, and they're not an SMF member, how can we get them in touch when the Big Ordering Day comes along? Can they email one of the mods?

Thanks again, gentlemen.

Wouldn't it be easier to just instruct them on how to join SMF?? It's not like we're asking for a blood donation, circumcision, participation, or even a real name--just a valid email addy.

Once you sign up you will be given a private link. Your wife can use that link to pay for the brush.

Don't worry guys. We will have something soon. We just have to be patient when dealing with bigger companies.
