Good day Gents,
I was just wondering what the history of Shavemyface.com is? Who are the founding members? When did it start and how did it become?
There are a lot of new members including myself here and I am always interested in how these forums come about.
Special thanks to all the members for making this a special place to hang out in cyber world.

Loki, Hopefully, someone will come up with what to look in the Search function under; as I've done fairly lengthy posts on the history of the shave forums in the past, and there are associated threads. It's really too long to go into again. Very briefly, SMF stared up in July of 2004, as a spin-off from the old MSN Wetshaver forum. Vince created the site, and still owns it. Joel Ferman, the current owner of B&B was his sort of partner in crime, but Vince set it up. A few members of Wetshavers joined immedialtely, like Chris M. for example. Others, like myself, waited awhile to see how it would go.
Regards,
Gordon

I have always wondered what Corey Shaveblogs' name was on here.
Anyone know?
If you bring him up on another forum - you are booed and hissed. (from the postings I have seen there)
That is why I am reluctant to bring him up here - although he is a BIG reason that a lot of us are here to begin with, including me.

Corey didn't win many friends with his extended joke about shavegeeks. It was intended to be funny in that he is obviously just as much a shavegeek as those he pretended to deride. Not all were up to such subtlety. He has never been a member here, which is a shame as he is a perfectly nice guy.

Phil, Chris is, of course, correct. Corey never joined SMF. He was a member of the old Wetshavers forum, and was very active on it for a time. He simply used 'Corey' as his 'handle'.

Gordon

Thanks guys - I always wondered about that.
He actually mentioned this forum to me in an email about a year ago.
(He sent me this way to get help from a certain member named "Gordon"!)
It is like a young Jedi being sent to Yoda, except it has been a whole forum full of helpful Gordon's, with Gordon the JediMaster also!
But then he warned me to stay off of the forums, I guess because he had had some issues with people before (like DrMoss said). (The higher the tree - the harder the wind blows I guess - with the power of mass media behind him, I am sure he gets a lot of flack)
If I would have stayed off of this forum - I would have NOT learned an awful lot about shaving and NOT made a lot of new friends, even if they are just "internet friends."
And yes, I am a member of the other forums and will not even go there because it is not nearly as friendly or helpful as the guys here.
Instead of feeling condescended to here - I feel helped and as if I contribute to the well being of the group.
Thanks.

Sort of an Eccentric Eclectric Maniacal Family of wet shavers of sorts, kind of...huh?

Pretty much the Addams Family with extremely sharp edged tools.

Gordon as Yoda? Well . . . not quite the image that comes to my mind. Perhaps the retired officer relating his adventures to his acquaintances while resting comfortably in a leather chair here at the gentlemen's club. As for the rest of us, most of us lean in while he speaks in quiet tones.
Yep, that's more like it. Another round of Gin and tonics please.

Almost 13 Years on --- still shaving. Only on the internet does 2004 seem like ancient days.

SMF................Less hype more filling. A true throwback corner of the interwebs. Of course there is not as much activity but there is a greater percentage of long time members who drop by and give comments. It never got to the point of eating itself alive.

Only on SMF would we get to this point on a history of the forum thread.
