Simpson to choose

Post by celar36 »

Hi,

I am getting next month Chubby 1 Super but I would like to buy also something not so soft so will work good with MWF and I just like bit harder.

Any ideas with Simpson would be good? :)
Thinking about Classic( or else?) in Best or should I go for some Pure brush( and what model?)

thanks

a colonel x2l in 2 band super (aka 'the ehsan') is what you are looking for.

however wait and try the chubby 1. it is very dense with plenty of backbone, certainly no soft wimp and it will more than cope with mwf.
Remember: this is all just wasted time and lives talking nonsense to strangers about pieces of metal, hair and chemical compounds.

afaik they were made only in a couple of limited edition runs and are not generally available. however speak to mark and he should be able to sort you out.

I wouldn't recommend a Simpson 2 band because it's a crap shoot. I've owned about four of them and kept one, which is superb. The others were really scritchy and not worth the coin, IMO.

I suggest for your consideration the underrated and under appreciated Commodore X2 in best, which has surfaced as my favorite Simpson brush after using over a dozen of them. Great brush.

Duke 3 Best Badger - great all rounder and good value within the Simpsons range.

I agree with Paddy....wait until you use the brush and then decide what you might need. If the chubby is too floppy for you then my suggestion is:

1. http://gloriraq.info/img.php?fl=b4l4t4v ... 44s2n5t5m5

or

2. PJ2

Thanks for opinion :) all of you. Now I am bit confused which Simpson should be my first one

Chubby super 1
Colonel x2l in 2 band super
Commodore X2 in best
or
Duke 3 or 1 Best Badger

Chubby is my favorite but bit pricey, Duke i think in 1 as I like small sizes and Colonel X2L in 2 band super.

I think in the end decision belongs to me and whichever I make will be correct as all of them are superb brushes :) ahh decisions my fiancee hates me for buying so much shaving stuff:)

But to be fair this and one cream and one soap from Dr. Harris and one A/S will be the end of shopping spree for at least a year( besides feather AS and blades, personna prep blades and gillette swede)

Duke 3 Best and put the money you save from buying a CH1 Super toward your other shaving goodies.

My Tulip 3 in Super has encouraged me to become a regular user of MWF.

I am no brush expert, but for me, Simpson's Tulip 3 in Super/three band is a nice balance of beefy handle, larger knot, and the right density of hair.

The Tulip has been a strong performer with MWF/Kent.

YMMV.

I was going to buy this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350563298632? ... 500wt_1413

but now it seems bit too expensive so I am going to buy FINALLY :D Duke 2 best tomorrow as I still cannot afford Chubby 1 super.

Hope I made good decision resigning for while from Chubby...

I wish you luck finding an Ehsan. Those who have them are very reluctant to part with them. I think you'll have better luck finding a Chubby, and it's a great brush too.
