Do you wash new blades?

I just bought a few packs of blades that package kinda ruin because of oil.

I know that new blades always come covered in some sort of oil, to prevent them from rusting.

And I noticed that people sell "ancient" blades that are soaked in oil too.

Do you wash them before using? Or even sanitized them?
Is the oil harmful?

the oil your talking about is probably safe and its sanitize and i just run the blade under the water before each shave.

The blades should be sanitized when they come out of the package. I have never seen any reason to wash them. The oil won't hurt anything.

Hi Arief, welcome to SMF.

I never wash the blade myself, though I do somewhat instinctively place the head of the razor in warm water anyway to warm it through. Any oil on the surface won't be harmful to you.

Grip the end of the blade with a pair of pliers and hold it under running hot water. You don't really have to wash them but it doesn't hurt anything.

My water's hot, but not so much as to threaten my fingers, so I just hold the blade under hot tap water, as I do with the top and bottom plates when the razor is a 2 or 3 piece.

I'ver never washed a blade before --- I will soak it a bit in hot water when I first mount it into the razor -- maybe this is just as good?
