Chris,
I just saw this but last week I dug out my French Vetiver Salter cream and shaved with it twice that week. It really does make a nice creamy dense lather. It's spring so the scent is appropriate. I have the old white tub myself.

Re: How do you fix a Cracked Blade???
Yes, it's been trashed and Ray would be saddened. I got a spam e-mail from the new owner inviting me join him in his exciting new wristwatch venture! The post above would be deleted as self-advertisement by a vendor if it was made today, but back in 2011 I think Glen was working for himself...........

Ah, but some people make a living out of straight razor repairs... Ever notice the address used for classicshaving.com re-scaling? C. I just checked Classicshaving for the first time in a long time just to see what you were referring to and I see what you mean now. I tell you I was surprised at how...

The Moss Scuttle in Winter
In the morning when the first bell rings and it is Winter it can be a challenge to get out from under the warm comforter to step into the cold room. The past few mornings have been very cold and now snow blankets the ground. It's still somewhat dark when that first bell goes off but I make my way to...

Re: Straight razor vs DE razor...
Was hoping maybe Martin could post that article link here as I'd like to know how it came to such a conclusion. Over at that blog the science of sharp the author implies that straights can be keener and smoother than commercially produced edges using the right technique. Every now and then I step ou...

Re: Cream versus Soap?
I have confirmation from Toronto Barber and Beauty Supply: J.M.Fraser cream is gone for good. Bastards. A few years ago I went looking for another tub of this and came to the same conclusion. There wasn't even any old stock laying around. Even though this was a cheap cream with a synthetic scent I ...

Re: T&H Luxury Shaving Soap Revisted
Cvac, I can't speak for the current iteration of Culmak but the vintage stuff I have lathers like a dream. It's formula is like the old formula for the No 89 soap. They are very similar in that regard. The new ingredients I've seen are suspect but I've haven't tried it so can't say really one way or...

Popped in here to see why this old thread was resurrected and saw the post by KAV. Been a while and he's missed. Hope he's doing well.

Evening All, It's been quite a while since we've talked about this one. Thought I'd bring it up since it Summer time and this is a very refreshing scent, perfect for this time of year. I have gone through a few bottles of this over the years and it is an excellent aftershave. I don't know what's in ...

Re: Mitchell's Wool Fat soap no longer contains tallow
Looking at the new ingredients list it looks like they've moved to a more potassium stearate based soap. I'm fine with that. Those types of soaps perform outstanding for me, even in my hard water. If I recall, a lot of old formula shaving soaps are more potassium stearate based, like the vaunted old...

T&H Luxury Shaving Soap Revisted
Inspired by the thread on Cyril Salter's solid shaving soap I decided to revisit T&H's Luxury shaving soap. I was also inspired by this thread: https://forum.shavemyface.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=51932&p=618459&hilit=Officer+and+Gentleman#p618459 to check out some of other the soaps th...

Re: God Save The King!
I did catch bits and pieces of the ceremony in the news but didn't watch the whole thing. I enjoyed what I did see of it. Very grand and full of proper ceremony, something the modern world lacks. Very comforting to see something so ancient carrying on. I wish King Charles III Godspeed, I don't think...

Re: Did you enjoy a cigar today?
Basil,
Thanks for sharing this, I really appreciate it.
Bourbon and a cigar used to be a daily custom for me at the end of the day but ever since the doctor put me on this blasted blood pressure medicine I can't have either anymore. So it's nice to live variously as they say.
Enjoy!

Agree this was a good one in it's early incarnation. I don't use the one I have very much or even the EDT but I do enjoy them every once in a while.
I can't believe they discontinued the EDT, I would have thought that would be around forever it was so good.

Re: Barber Shop Shave - Your Expectations?
Expectations? Respectfully, I'm not anticipating my barber to be shaving my whiskers. I covet and relish shaving myself, thank you very much!.🤗 However, upon reflection, I have many happy memories of Saturday visits to Joe Winters' barber shop on Main Street in the little town where I grew up. As a...

Gosh those look yummy!
The one time I made crumpets my wife and I enjoyed them and thought they were a cross between a pancake and an English muffin. Good stuff, goes well with butter and preserves.
Bon Appetite!
