here is some advice from an ex-trucker with just shy of 1,000,000 accident free miles....if you get drowsy, STOP and take a nap. a 1/2 hour cat nap will do you wonders. music, coffee, singing, conversation or open windows do not do you any good. your eyes may be open but your brain shuts off. trust...

Well, Mr. Lurch, I still see you are your same ignorant, rude, attacking self. As soon as someone disagrees with one of your ideas, personal attacks come forth. No biggie as far as I am concerned. Says more about your personal shortcomings and failures in life I suppose. I guess my benign comments ...

The only way that a total gun ban would reduce gun crime would be if said ban had been implemented before a significant amount of guns had been manufactured. The supply is so large, that no amount of reduction of legal gun ownership/manufacture would even put a dent in the amount of available guns ...

Tye, I will try to be more clear for you. Some people can't see beyond a civil war being exactly like the THE US Civil War. That is what I am referring to. I am not trying to dodge anything, by the way. Please do try to be civil, would you? Tye, there absolutely would be armed insurrections if the g...

Tye, there absolutely would be armed insurrections if the govt tried to confiscate guns. A civil war does not mean the US Civil War of the 1860s. There is no doubt in my mind that people would take up arms to defend their constitutionally interpreted right to bear arms. There are millions of people ...

No where did I say that the modern world invented it. The fact is, modern society, ie pop culture, has little problem with it. I'm not so sure that this hasn't been an issue for as long as there have been young men. While there are certainly plenty of bad influences in the modern world, I hardly thi...

Moses, clearly SOMETHING is required to help out. But I submit it will be of little effect. The cat is out of the bag, and it is going to be IMPOSSIBLE to get it back in, short of a civil war. And that would be the result if the government radically tried to confiscate guns or whatever. Moses, Canad...

Well, I am glad that you last few are reading! Perhaps you need to read my previous comments to understand my point of view. Am I advocating getting rid of guns? Hardly. My point, and I meant to be blunt, is that if you have guns, people are going to get killed, like it or not! You cannot deny that....

Sad to hear of your not uncommon problem. Sounds like it was building up over a period of time. When we live in a society that values selfishness and the pursuit of happiness, and there are blaring messages to young people that parents suck and all of society sucks, sadly, it has an effect. We are l...

Your scenario is emotionally appealing, but very shortsighted. A more common scenario is where someone is shot (maybe in their own home) by someone they know well, or accidentally, or even by mishandling a gun, such as by a child. A shotgun is pretty easy to use as a threat, but a more common scena...

Just a point here. While it is often said that most shootings occur between two people who are known to one another what is often excluded in the description is that the majority of violence of this type is between two or more CRIMINALS who know each other. While the husband or wife who finish an a...

You could also open a high interest savings account (ING, or whatever), in your own name, in order to get the interest, and give it to him when he is over age. If it grows into the thousands, though, you at some point run into a gift tax issue doing this. (currently $11k or so, I think). Definitely...

Gun should be licensed. Psychological test for ownership? That is a red herring in my view. We don't need that kind of big brotherism, do we? Who decides what the test will be, some gunner hater from a big city? A gun lover from a rural way of life? No, as soon as you start doing that, you really s...
