K-MaN Welcome to SMF. I whole heartedly endorse all of the above advice, especially about getting and working the blade sampler packs. There is definately a difference in performance and what works for you will not work for someone else. As an aside, if you look at the base of your adjustable where ...

After posting the previous reply I thought I give my sensor a try today. Since I am mowing the lawn today and it's going into the low 80's I skipped my morning shower, washed my face twice with a good soap and lots of hot water, got my Proraso boar brush, Williams mug soap and lathered up my face. T...

I never could get a good shave with anything that had more than two blades and I did start with creams and a good brush and my Sensor. I still keep it around and just bought what is probably a life time supply of cartridges (25 for $27) at BJ's, a Sam's Club look alike. I use it when I have to get m...

Today was my second shave with it and it seems to be a fairly gentle razor. Blade: Swedish Gillette Cream: Proraso Green Brush: Vulfix...

Frank, Blades as well as razors, creams, soaps, ect., ect., seem to be preference. I too used the Merkur that came with my Classic and at the same time I bought two more five packs. After using them I was not overly impressed and did as well with the Russian made Gillettes sold in the US. Since then...

This AM I shaved using the William's soap but used my 1961 Gillette Adjustable with a Swedish Gillette blade. The shave I got was just what I am used to and I could not discern any difference from the shaves that I get from my creams. I still need more work on my technique with the soap, the lather ...

Don't do this!!
I tried soap today for the first time after a couple of years of cream having picked up some William's at my local supermarket . I tried to follow all the suggestions from here, took my time and built a pretty good lather on my face. I did my usual two pass shave and got a clean, close shave but it ...

This morning I tried out the mug again. This time I used my Proraso tube which always works well for me and got a nice lather. I have always been a two pass man but today I did an additional XTG pass just because the mug kept the lather warm and got a very nice shave. I still find generating lather ...
