I have used the Emillion the past two days. Thursday's shave was with Trumper's Eucris hard soap and today's was with Al's "The Bomb" Probomb shaving cream. I'm really liking this brush. As mentioned originally, the tips are very soft and the knot has a bit more flex than I expected. Howev...

Gordon,

The knot in the Emillion 1 is listed as 21 mm, so I would say it compares with a Plisson 8 or maybe 10 in knot size. It certainly is not the same size as the 12. I will update later this week after I use it with a shave soap and also once I get the Stubby 1XL.

UPDATE #1 First use of the brush was today. I used Domenico Caraceni shave cream for the shave. I face lather, so I simply put a little shave cream in my mug and loaded the brush there. I do just enough to load the brush but not create the lather at this point. After that, I took the brush to my fa...

New Rooney Emillion 1 - Initial Thoughts

I grabbed one of these when I saw them come up at Vintageblades. There have been some questions in other posts on how these compare with the Rooney Finest brushes that are no longer being produced. As such, I will post some initial thoughts on the Heritage bristles and do a quick comparison with the...

Nice work with those restorations. I think some of the desire to rebristle a brush comes from personal preference. It's one thing to use an old brush if I've been the one using it for years. It's another to use one that you found at local store, or picked up off Ebay, and you have no idea how it's b...

I don't think Cella's scent is as polarizing as Tabac's. Cella does not have a sweet, marzipan scent that so many almond soaps/creams have. The scent is more like a natural almond. I would call it bitter almond only in contrast to the sweeter, marzipan scent. I would not call it "wet dog."...
