Number 1 thing NOT to do
So, this won't apply to 99 percent of ppl, however here is on thing not to do. I am in the navy, on a ship, so after shaving I don't have a lot of places to put my soap, brush, and razor after shaving. At the bottom of my rack was the place I used to put it till I bumped my foot into it. Yeah should...

Well, as I stated before, I have made my decision to go w/ a DE. The Merkur straight bar is the one I chose. I have put in an email to Lee and am waiting on a reply. I'll post pics when I finally get my order placed, my goods received, and my face shaved (hopefully shaved not butchered  <-- me...

from what i have read on the forum elsewhere, it would seem as the general consensus, is that DE blades are typically sharper than a straight. I agree (w/ no exp whatsoever) that the feather shouldn't be compared to a straight, due to the origin of the blade edge. What most ppl seem to be saying is ...

This discussion is unfair. The majority of the people on this forum uses a DE razor. whereas that may be true, i think i have gotten some good info. My decision to begin w/ a DE is based on initial start-up costs, lack of need to hone and strop, and the fact DE use somewhat less equipment. I still ...

Wow, you guys are great. Just for quick FYI, I am 25 years old. When i told my Navy co-workers I wanted to start using a DE or cut-throat, they laughed at me. Then i showed them the .pdf file on the site. They just kind of stared at me, LoL. Please keep the comments coming. I am excited about gettin...

That does make sense. I will be in WA state in about 5 weeks. I will be buying my razor, brush, sampler blades online. Hopefully i can find them all in the same spot. I know there alot of useful links on this site. So, once one gets the safety razor thing down pat, making the move to a cutthroat wou...

Straight versus Safety - For someone new to open blades
I have read through the forums, but haven't found this ? asked. I use a cartridge system now (mach III) and am tired of the expense (something like 28 bucks for 8 ). I have always been intrigued w/ the "refined" things in life, one of them shaving w/ a straight razor. when i googled it, im...
