For that ice cold blast after shaving then you are going to need to order the Pre/Post cream as well. I've never tried the foam of Proraso, but the green tube with pre/post cream is very cooling. If that is still not cool enough for you, you can come over and shovel my driveway. We had a good 6-7 i...

Often quality cream can be had cheaper online than in a store even if you can find a store in your area that has. If a store has it they usually overcharge becuase of the "exclusivity" of quality shave cream. I found a relatively local men's store (the kind that sell high end gifts for the...

Re: Lighter Weight DE

I can't comment on the weight comparison to the HD as I don't own one but I do own, use, and love the classic long-handle. it is a very light weight razor and I belive would make a great razor for your dad. Jerry The classic long handle does look like it would fit the bill. Does anyone have a weigh...

Lighter Weight DE

I bought my father a Merkur HD a while ago, but he finds it too heavy. I was wondering if anybody has suggestions on what I can get him to replace it with. The feather DE looks okay, but I havn't heard much about it. Long handle is important too, he finds the HD handle too short. I imagine the long ...

Thanks guys. I definately have enough time to think about it before I need to order. Still got most of my Williams cake and almost a whole tube of Musgo to go through before I can feel justified ordering more stuff. Now, I want to try the St. Charles soaps too, the "New Spice" and Wildwoo...

I use one of these. They are better than the battery powered ones that inevitably die after the second cleaning. One thing to remember is you have to keep the paddles moving as you take it out of your nose or you get pulling. Ouch! They are cheap, do the job, and are easy to clean.

Is the Trumper Rose better than Taylor enough to justify the dollar an ounce price premium? I am thinking trying Rose and Avocado for my next order. Or maybe Rose and Lime....Or Avocado and Lime....I don't know. I have avocado, lime, and rose. Out of the three I would go for the rose and avocado. T...

My shave last evening was truly something else. Taylor Rose cream with a pre Trumper Lime skin food followed up by Harris Milk Aftershaving all newly fresh from TGS (the milk is also rose scented). Superlative to say the least. Tonight i'm trying for the first time, another gift to myself: Harris La...

I think you would have to press pretty hard on your face to get movement. In which case you will be cutting yourself anyway.

Taylor's Rose

I got my shipment in from TGS just now, in it among other goodies I ordered is Taylor's Rose cream. All I can say is WOW. I've smelled roses before, but this scent is intoxicating. I havn't even shaved with it yet, I'm just sitting here smelling it. Its rose but in a very gentlemanly way. I hope it ...

The wood bowls are very nice touch, they to add to the already luxurious shaving experience.

Fantastic value. The bowls themselves cannot be cheap. I imagine they are from offshore.

I like to buy things on the recommendations of others especially users of this forum who have had good experiences with products. Not salespeople. This happens at those "upscale" department store counters. 45 year old women telling me how great Biotherm shave products are and how their 15 ...

Keep the Futur, especially if it is one with a satin finish (it glides smoother accross the skin). To get you upper lip, first shave N-S and push your nose up as far as possible with the head of the razor. You will still have a little stubble left under your nostril. On your second lather, come in s...

Shaved with the St. Charles Shave soap when I got home and it is a very nice soap. It lathers really easily and provides excellent lubrication. Very close comfortable shave on par with the best soaps/creams. I can't say enough about how easily this soap lathers. I just keep adding a little bit more ...

I own the SD500 - the predecessor to the SD550. I'm not sure what the differences are - I know the SD550 has a larger LCD screen. So far I have been happy with it. I didn't take my avatar picture with it - that was with an iSight webcam. The SD500 is a very slim camera and will fit in your shirt po...
