i personly beleve its down to the number of blades in cartrege razors I haven't used a DE yet, but this is very much my theory too. The irritation I get is always around my adams apple. I only go over it once with my fusion and always WTG. Because there are 5 blades, one pass must be similar to doi...

Macdave, Up until very recently, I have been a long and dedicated user of Clinique products. I've decided to stop using all of their shaving products and have been selling a load of my unused stuff off. After trying such wonderful products by Trumpers, Floris and T & H, there simply is no compar...

Also, I find no need for a warm water rinse after shaving and the moisturizer might not be needed either, especially in summer. Sometimes simplifying is key - it has been for me. Funny you should say this. This morning after I shaved, I didn't apply any balm or moisturiser to my face. I just splash...

I'm still thinking that the small, style 1 in silver tip will be the one I go for. I lather on my face and never in a bowl and haven't had any problems with my small Floris brush in this regard. Speaking of which, does anyone know who makes the Floris brushes? I ask because it is for sale in the sel...

Andrew, My current shaving 'regime' is as follows: 1. Shave in shower 2. Wash face with Clinique soap 3. Lather up (Various products at the moment because I'm testing samplers) 4. One WTG Pass 5. Two XTG Passes 6. Wash off with warm water 7. Apply cold flannel to face 8. Apply Clinique post-shave he...

Thanks notthesharpest - you seem to be replying to a lot of my threads tonight!

I didn't know about the different bristle length - I simply thought the style referred to the handle shape.

Do you have any preference over Best Badger or Silver Tip?

Rooney brushes

I'm planning on buying a Rooney shaving brush to replace my Floris Pure Badger. Executive Shaving (UK) have the following: Best Badger, Small, Style 1 - £36 Silver Tip, Small, Style 1 - £41.40 I'm thinking Silver Tip as it costs only a little more and would be gentler on my already sensitive skin. A...

Advice noted. I used to get a shaving rash on my cheeks which ultimately made me go to see a doctor. It was diagnosed as a simple bacterial infection to which I was prescribed cream. I now get no irritation on my cheeks. However on my neck, no matter how gentle I am i.e. apply NO pressure and only g...

I'm still using a Fusion at the moment while I wait for my DE to arrive. I'm pretty convinced it's the sheer number of blades they put in these cartridges. I'm just really hoping that a DE will be gentler on my neck.

Doug, What a great collection! I can feel the envy inside me!! :D Seriously though, well done on the No 89. Im a dedicated wearer and i know you'll fall in love with it. Nothing else compares IMHO. I have just bought a bottle of Floris JF in their summer sale which was very reasonable priced. I'm no...

Greg, I've just purchased a new BMW-Mini which has a 6-speed manual gearbox. As far as I am aware, the 6th gear is primarily added to increase the fuel economy of the car when cruising at 60+MPH by further reducing the engine revs. Hence there is poor acceleration in this gear. I'm no engineer, but ...

Advice on my post-shave routine

Gentlemen, Can any of you recommend a good routine for post-shave? At the moment I'm using Clinique's post-shave balm and to be honest, I don't really find it particularly helps the redness on my neck. Sometimes, it seems to simply make it worse. As a result, I'm going to ditch it and move on Would ...

I've noticed a few people here are having difficulty getting Floris to send them a sampler of No 89. Luckily here in Britain they appear to be a little more generous, and this true classic is now my favourite fragrance which I wear almost daily. If anyone who is having difficulty getting a sampler w...

Ren is right. I always used to apply the spray type of cologne directly onto my face after shaving, but this proved bad for my skin. To avoid irritation i simply apply it to the back of my neck, chest and wrists-the usual pulse points. In my experience, the cologne is certainly more concentrated tha...
