WTB - “14” Straights

Post by Sando »

I’m always looking to add to my modest collection of 14s. I’m interested in all makers in any condition. Contact me to make a deal agreeable to both.
Thanks.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by a "14" straight? Quarter hollow? Obviously can't be a model number like a Filarmonica 14 if you say any maker.

Hi Chris
I have a few razors that are labeled “14”. Filarmonica, Guillermo Hoppe, Le Grelot, and Vierblatt. They are all very hollow blades at or near 8/8 and I’ve had others that were 6/8 and as small as 5/8. I find the size 14 at 8/8 to be just the right weight and shape - the perfect blend of stout and near full hollow. Filarmonica may be the most common but I’ve seen other labels such as Palmera, Volcano, and Herter. I’m sure there’s others.

I see, collecting razors of the same model number no matter who made them - that's a new obsession to me! Good luck in your searches!

There's something about the Ramon Gonzalez that I find pretty cool looking.

:-k It is just as logical as buying birth year DE razors.

I agree Gary. I think she’s an early model Fili. A previous owner used her well but there’s enough left to enjoy the lines and the shave. I like a razor with a little character.

Well there you go.
You could also think of collecting only #14 razors as a way of preventing you from blowing money on any and all razors.

I’m still looking to add to my collection of 14s, something a little less common than a Fili Doble Temple. I can offer this W&B FBU as a trade. She’s in excellent shape.

Contact me to make a trade or outright purchase agreeable to both.
