Thank you Gary. It appears that the plaintiff has branched out a bit. The week that I was served, he seemed to be focused only on shaving websites in my area of Los Angeles. He has since branched out to sue the websites of a few cigar shops, pet stores, candy stores and Asian Bakeries. I posted my story on NextDoor and received private messages from a few businesses that were also hit.brothers wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 7:24 pm From what I've seen so far it appears to be someone in the shaving goods and services market who wants to chase the competition out of town so they can scoop up the business. Otherwise they would be going after each and every website anywhere and everywhere in the realm of the ADA. If they're sincere - they're not - they would be busy filing a blanket complaint to the appropriate authorities against all "websites". They are contemptible. Phil, it makes me sad to see this happening. This is just wrong in so many ways.

Yes, the disbarred lawyer is technically acting as an advisor for several disabled clients but is in fact the mastermind behind the whole scheme. Proving that fact may be a little hard to do unfortunately.

Re: Frivolous ADA Lawsuits
I thought I'd give a little update. My lawyer got the case dismissed without prejudice (meaning it cannot be re-filed) He flooded the plaintiff with discovery under the penalty of perjury and the plaintiff folded like a cheap suit. I, of course, am out the lawyer fees. Even when you win, you lose.
My lawyer mentioned that 80% of these website ADA cases are in California (due to the Unruh Act) and that these "professional plaintiffs" pull in over $500,000 annually (from settlements). Its definitely crooked and it is definitely extortion.

Good news - congratulations, Phil. Sorry about the fees, hopefully better than a judgement though.

Re: Frivolous ADA Lawsuits
Really good news, but one minor detail, with prejudice means the case can not be re-filed. Without prejudice means it can be. (I hope that was just a scrivenor's error.)

Thank you. Yes, definitely better than either a judgement or a settlement. It ended up being 50% of what the settlement fee would have been. It was money well spent.

Re: Frivolous ADA Lawsuits
Thank you. I did give my attorney's information to The Shaver Shop but will reach out to the other local businesses who were sued as well.
Another silver lining is that my attorney is a wet shaver so...I have gained a customer.

Glad to hear you came out on top, Phil, though I regret you had to spend so much to protect yourself from an obvious injustice.
