It is the multi focal lens, like progressive glass lens, but also has an astigmatism feature. I could chose the monofocal lens or a true multi focal or the pan optic.

I'm a little wary of the complexity of this option in view of my own disappointment with a simpler option. It just seems like there is more to go wrong. If your surgeon has had good experience with it, however, why not?

I wish you the best, Sam, whichever option you choose.

Yesterday I had surgery on my right eye. Today I went in for a postop consultation and I can read 20/20. The biggest thing that I notice the difference in is that if I close my left eye, the surgical eye sees colors so much brighter. I would compare it to the LED bulb but with the daylight setting. My non-surgical, left, eye has a brownish tint to it which would compare to the soft white lightbulbs setting. Today I am watching ESPN and the scroll on the bottom, if I close my left eye, it’s the first time in over 40 years I would’ve been able to read the scrolling lines at the bottom without the need of glasses or contacts

Clive and Murray: Well, if they had never told me I had cataracts, I would not have known. The neatest thing is being able to see the TV without glasses or contacts and that is even with the left eye not operated on, which is my distance eye. Also, the difference in the brightness of lights. It is like the left eye has a filter of sorts on it. So far no halos as far as I can tell. Having to stagger eye drops each day is a small price to pay. I always hit my head and glasses on things, like doorways, hoods of cars when working underneath the hood, bushes when trimming them, and constantly having to take glasses off and wipe my eyes and forehead. This is just so nice for a change.

I had the second I done a couple of days ago and I am reading 2020 as far as distance. Sometimes I do very well reading something at arms length like a magazine or menu and other times it’s a little bit on the blurry side. It may be my eyes are dried out a little bit because of the drops. Also they said it’s not unusual for your eyes to need to adjust two or three weeks after. Thankfully I don’t have any night vision or halo problems. I am driving my car now for the first time ever without glasses or contacts. The colors are so much brighter on my TV

I had the second eye done ten days ago and this eye has healed faster than the first. I'm definitely still nearsighted in this eye, as well, though no other negative effects. So, there is something different from the norm in both of my eyes and I'll still be wearing glasses. :(

As far as color vision is concerned, cataracts have a yellow cast to them, so everything looks blue after surgery. Of course, everything is clearer and brighter, also.

Thank you all for your posts. Second eye done. Wow. I have never seen distance better than now. Hitting 3’or 4 out of five on the 20-15 chart at a distance. I think my near will settle between 20-20 and 20-25. Got to let the drops do their magic and get a final check in a month

I'm continuing my story in this thread instead of the "Cover me" thread.
Update: Laser surgery on left eye on 12/7. Vision tested to 20/20 on 12/15. Next surgery is 1/4.

Twenty years ago I had Lasik for myopia. I found all vehicle headlights had starbursts around them at night, and they still do. It's a bit like driving at night in heavy rain and your wipers don't work - imagine what the oncoming lights are like through the raindrops on the windshield. I can drive at night, but I prefer not to if I can avoid it. I've been to an ophthalmologist a few times this year after shingles affecting the right eye. He was concerned about a haziness under the cornea, but it was in both eyes and not just the shingles-affected side. Maybe GVHD from the transplant, so he kept me coming back to observe it, until finally the penny dropped. It was the Lasik.

Second surgery 1/4. Now two days later and my right eye is at least 95%. My entire house is one big eye chart. I'm testing my eyesight on everything: plants, bottle labels, TV news, clocks, tree branches, the house across the street, Jupiter. A little sensitive to bright light but not concerned.

You're going to be doing a lot more cleaning around the house.
After my surgery, I can see little specs of dust and hairs on the floor, before everything was just a big yellowish haze.
I can't believe how I managed all these years, colours are so vivid.

My wife recently went through both eyes - with her second surgery a couple of weeks before Christmas. Other than having to use reading glasses, she is over-the-moon with the results. Having said that, the surgery doesn't correct floaters, and she did have a bleed at the back of her first surgery which was concerning, but once reviewed by a specialist, was not a worry in the end.

We now have a growing supply of reading glasses on each floor of our house, in her office, in her purse -- I think we could open our own reading glasses online retailer ;)

Update: woke up Friday, 1-13-23. with a bit of biurred vision in right eye on Firay about half way down on a horizontal plan. Turns out I have a detached retina. Surgery this Tuesday. Recovery a hit rougher and longer than Cataracts. Hoping vision in that eye can return to 20-20.
