More Medjool Dates

Post by churchilllafemme »

Ready for the freezer. I've been tempted sometimes to eat them while shaving. They're a great evening snack with a DVD movie.

Makings of an excellent Waldorf salad there. My version is chopped dates, chopped celery, chopped apple, crushed walnuts and mayonnaise. Tastes even better the next day, but doesn't look so good. Haven't done that for years, so thanks for the reminder!

That sounds great! I haven't had Waldorf salad for many years.

You inspired me to go out and buy the ingredients, so when Pippa comes home on Tuesday after three weeks in Kenya I shall offer her a spinach and cheese quiche with Waldorf on the side. Worth coming home for!

This thread reminds me of an episode from March 1979 of Fawlty Towers (a John Cleese Classic), “Waldorf Salad”. Absolutely hilarious. So, where do you get your Waldorfs from?

FYI....the people at soom foods (of tahini fame) are waxing philosophical about the benefits of dates, specifically a date syrup called silan

Waldorf made, quiche made, wife retrieved from airport. Thunderbirds are go!

Actually made the quiche yesterday, and since I had a handyman coming for a leaky sink supply (I'm not smart enough to make PEX connectors fit the banned polybutylene pipes), so I made two, plus used the spare pastry for mince pies and gave the guy a quiche and a mince pie. Do real plumbers eat quiche?
