That's good news, Gary. Might I ask about hair? I assume we're talking badger only, and I'd be hoping you have contacts that can source better stuff than the farmed Chinese nonsense.

I’ll be using what I would call ‘Best’ grade-equivalent to the Best we used to use at Nimmer (and before in London). Sourced from the right places!
This whole venture is about making the brushes as true to the methods I was shown as a kid. Good quality materials. Handmade. Quality Control will be solely down to me so it will be as it was in the family’s day. No brush will get sent out unless I’m 100% happy it’s as good as a family made brush.

Gary, I'll echo Tim and Chris's enthusiasm for these new brushes made personally by you.

I, too, look forward to more news of developments.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the source of the "Nimmer" brand?

I chose Nimmer as that was the name of the hamlet in Somerset where our old brush factory was located-Nimmer Mills. Beautiful part of the UK and lots of happy memories for me growing up there.

Thanks, Gary. That's a useful little bit of history for establishing context and giving us more of a "feel" for the product.

Well, there went my wallet.

In all seriousness I'm interested in seeing what is produced!

If your brushes resemble the magnificent ones manufactured in the "Grey Box" era, I AM SO IN!!! Best of luck, Gary.

Excellent news! Any chance the handles will be stamped in lampblack? Doesn’t make any difference to performance but it was the hallmark of a “real” Simpson IMO.

Gary,
Any chance you could weigh in on the quality of today's "Best Badger" vs. the Grey Box era Best? I have owned many and there seems to be a HUGE difference. The older Best was silky soft and what appears to be slightly thinner bristles. What's the deal? Is it really only from where the hair is sourced?
Are Badgers that different?
Thanks.
