Am I the only one who missed the Gillette "Heritage" DE Razor?

Let's talk about single and double edged razors and the blades that they use.

Am I the only one who missed the Gillette "Heritage" DE Razor?

Post by Pauldog »

https://sharpologist.com/gillette-herit ... dge-razor/

It was only sold on Amazon, aimed at the 2019 holiday season, featured a handle that looked like one from a 1930 NEW model, and a head apparently from Muhle. Limited edition, still available, for about $35.

I already potentially have something very similar, though I never yet combined my replated NEW handle with a Muhle head.

Hi Paul

I went over the Amazon to have a look at it. It looks like a nice kit for the money, though it's hard to call it a "Gillette." One reviewer noted that it doesn't say Gillette anywhere on the razor.

It is a decent price for what amounts to an EJ/Muehle head on a Gillette-made handle, with good blades and a nice case.

Can we be sure that Gillette made the handle?

As a minimalist shaver, I have only Merkurs Progress and 34C and some others like a Gillette Tech that sort of works ok too, a bit rough that. But those 2 I like.

I've always been interested about that Muehle/EJ Jagger head so the Gillette one I'd like maybe get too, but if they are only were sold on Amazon, not really. I'd much prefer buy from a shaving company. At least you got a nice Gillette original looking case.

It was around $35 including the case, if I recall correctly. I saw it but didn't mention it on the forums :D . I thought it would be a nice gift, handsome 3 piece razor with the Gillette logo on the case.

I've seen them on eBay, and I wouldn't be surprised if some regular online vendor had some for sale, too

I was searching for the connection between Mühle and Edwin Jagger, because of the similarity of the heads.
No luck yet, but I found this tidbit, on https://www.edwinjagger.com/shaving-pro ... uine-parts

The Jagger head is the same as the Muhle closed comb head. I think Muhle is the manufacturer.

Chances are that these heads that Fendrihan offers are also by Mühle.
"Chrome plated", but they don't say if it's on brass or zamak.

They also have this one, and call it "Red Bronze", but the description says "chrome plated brass".

There's a little bit of worn plating on the bottom of the screw on my Jagger head, and the metal underneath is silvery, so I doubt that it's brass.

I asked.
Fendrihan says:
"A: Hi John,
This head is made from zamac (zinc alloy)."

Really nice packaging/presentation, Clive.

Though I couldn't see it very well, it looked a lot like an EJ/Muehle head.

It will be interesting to hear how it shaves.
