A Treat For Someone

Let's talk about single and double edged razors and the blades that they use.

A Treat For Someone

Post by drmoss_ca »

Some years ago I was given some shave accoutrements that were said to be items that someone here had taken off to war. One was a rather simple but perfect brass DE blade case that can hold six or seven blades. In fact it came with six wrapped blades in it, four Gillette Blue and two Premier Fits-U (claiming to be Light, yet stamped Heavy - make of that what you will). I can't find any information on Premier, but the Gillette Blue was introduced in the 1930's, so if this has been to war, it was WW2.
All the blades in it are of Canadian origin, just read the fine print in the photo. I'm thinking the brass case would make an attractive carrying case for anyone who travels extensively with a DE. Here it is:

Now to make it interesting, make a reply to this thread saying what is the most exotic place you have travelled to with your DE, and I'll judge the winner. You pay postage to you if you win, but that will be small as it is tiny and light.

I also have a WW1 cylindrical brush containing tin for a later competition.

Not in, but cool PIF.

If I was in, I'd say Ulukhaktok in the NWT.

I didn't so much travel there as lived there for 7 years ('76-'84), and I had a Gillette Super 109.
I wish I could find it now.

Great contest, John. I'm in.

I took DE to Ushuaia, Argentina, which claims to be the most southerly place in South America, and cruised around Cape Horn. Does that count as exotic?

Thank you

You're currently the only one in the running! We'll give it a week.
