Favourite TV Program of ALL TIME
Favourite TV Program of ALL TIME
All right gentleman, perhaps its the Hefeweizen talking, but here's a question for you all, just for fun: What is your favourite TV Program of ALL TIME?
I'll start... Magnum, PI.
Tom Selleck always seemed like a nice guy, the characters (i.e. Thomas, TC, Rick & Higgins) actually act like guys do (they would give each other crap constantly, but when things got tough they would do anything for one another). The show was great also because of some of the plot twists ("Did you see the sun rise?"-- boom!) and because the characters were honourable-- Thomas didn't sleep around, TC was a struggling family man, Higgins was Higgins, and so forth.
Sounds silly, but to a college kid (as I was back then) the show really provided me with role models.
If a Magnum, PI movie is ever made, I think you'll see a badger brush and tub of Trumper's sitting by the sink...

Dumb as a stump and twice as ugly...
Same here. I used to catch re-runs on Nick at Nite several years ago but they are no longer shownNMMB wrote:Without any doubt or hesitation I cast my vote for the wonder years.

Barney Miller first and foremost, the characters were amazing and when you consider the show was always done in the squad room...amazing....always funny and they never left that room.
Honorable mention to ... Everybody Loves Raymond... great cast! The only show in recent memory that has consistantly made me laugh out loud!

Scrubs is my all time favorite. Great cast, great writing, great soundtracks, etc...
I'm 30 to give you an idea of what has been around for me.

The Simpsons. Still going strong after a decade plus. Everytime you watch an episode, you see something that you hadn't caught before.
Non-animated is the Twilight Zone. I live for the TZ marathons they put on the SciFi channel every once in a while.

Or....
And Green Acres (with a talking pig to boot). 2 of the best true sitcoms ever made (their situation was a constant thread in every show).blueasajewel wrote:The Beverly Hillbillies

I have two choices - one is my true all-time favorite, and the other is my current-won't-miss-it-for-the-world.
In the current-won't-miss-it-for-the-world category ----
Spooks/MI5 (a BBC production) - touted by many critics to be the most realistc spy show ever televised. Warning, not all the main characters live through each season. http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/spooks/
And, in the classic category - drum roll please.......
All In The Family. Archie Bunker wasn't necessarily a bigot - he was a man who felt he was watching his country and society fall to pieces all around him. The two best episodes were when he dealt with death - the death of his unbeknownst to him jewish best friend and the death of Edith. Carroll O'Conner was one of the classiest men in the entertainment industry during his day.
