I kind of like this little pencil of the month club idea. Of course, for $9 a month I'd not expect too many luxury items.
Give us the luxuries, and we will forgo the necessities.
Give a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day.
Set a man on fire, he'll be toasty for the rest of his life.

Another nice pen, Michael. Kind of a semi-demonstrator. I like the idea of being able to see the inner workings in a pen that has some color and pizazz.southpaw wrote:Yesterday and today's pen has been a Pelikan M620 Athens with a delightful fine nib.
Images have a bit more purple in the blue than they should, but I'm still figuring out GIMP.

Forget GIMP, what camera did you use, if these are photos that you took yourself. Great macro shots!southpaw wrote:Yesterday and today's pen has been a Pelikan M620 Athens with a delightful fine nib...

Fiat lux, et facta est lux. Que la lumière soit, et la lumière fut. Let there be light, and there was light.
Greg and Squire,
I am humbled and surprised! My photography skills aren't much. The camera is a Nikon CoolPix 4800ED. Settings were no flash, macro on, zoomed in a bit, exposure increased to +0.7. Now, what that means in terms of ISO or F-stop or whatever, I have no idea!
Take care,
Michael
Oh, almost forgot to add today's pen, a Stipula Novecento Rex.
And here's it's wonderful fine nib:

It will NOT be my MB LE Poe fountain pen.
It suffered a trauma such that it snapped the ink reservoir right off from the portion buried well inside the cap.
I'll take it to the MB Boutique in town when I really feel like it.
BAH!!!! I knew this was doomed from the start...
Great nib and design, but a cheap piece of garbage plastic...

Sorry to hear about your loss, Kent. On a positive note, MB CS is pretty good (provided you're ok with their fee) from what I hear and they'll likely have your pen back to you as good as new for ~$55 iirc. Hope it works out well for you.
Here's one that's been getting a lot of pocket-time lately and it very convenient: a Pilot Sesenta (it's a Decimo LE version).
The retractable nib is quite handy for quick notes. Here's a close-up that's overexposed to show the details in the barrel:
Blessings,
Michael

Thank you. Encouragement is needed at times like these...
I bought a Pilot vanishing point a few months ago. Well worth the small fee paid for it.

Re: POTD: What pen/pencil are you using today?
I happened across this old thread and thought it might be revived.
Today I'm mostly using a red Esterbrook J, with a (fine) 9461 nib. Since the nib is a bit too fine for my liking I filled the pen with Private Reserve tanzanite ink, known for its free-flowing nature. We'll see how that goes.

Parker Duofold (modern repo) green marble with a medium italic nib.
