Filarmonica straight

Post by caseys101 »

I have a new Filarmonica straight razor coming. It uses halved DE blades. I was just wondering, do you just break the DE blade in half? Will it work with any DE blade?

Casey,

If memory serves me right, the DE-type blades that go in a Dovo Shavette are the type you break in two. Ray at Classic Shaving has them.

Good luck.

Thanks fellas. I must admit I am a little nervous about using that setup.
It am sure it will be fun to try anyway.

You'll have no problem, just fold them on half (lengthways) with the wrapping paper left on, then you won't get cut.

Just one one more stroke on the hone and it will be perfect....... Oh $****

Shaved with the Filarmonica with Feather Platinums for the third time today. It shaves pretty good. A little on the dangerous side though.I bumped the end of the scales with my free hand which drove the full length of the blade into my cheek. The cut is still obvious three days later! I do think that with the little practice it will work great. I am still workng on getting the equipment to get my real straights sharp enough to get a good shave with. Thanks for the help! P.S. I didn't mean I shaved with the razor three times today! LOL
