"Younger than some, older than most" - Wet shaving for 50+ years
A nice, close shave this morning. It was my second use of the RazoRock aftershave wax–I like it for its soothing and protective quality, although it has a somewhat strange scent IMO. I’ll need it today because the weather is quite chilly and I will be outside much of the time.
Shave Secret preshave oil
Schwarzweisskeramik XL scuttle
Somerset Simpson Emperor 3 Super (21/48)
Penhaligon's English Fern shaving soap (vintage)
Feather AS
Balaka carbon steel (2)/Iridium Super (1)
Houbigant Fougere Royale splash aftershave (vintage)
I didn't want to waste the great Pen's lather on the Balaka, which was even worse - awful - the second day, so I switched after one pass to the IS blade, and after that the shave was as smooth as silk.
Still waiting for my Jade 2XL to arrive, so I've chosen 'Mama Chub' to do the honours with the Marlborough... Not a happy bunny....I don't usually have a rough shave with the str8, so I can only assume that my technique was way off!! :-/
* Looks like today is probably the last day this season for the Castile.
Best,
Chris
