My first Canadian freezing shaving soap

Post by JayDee »

Mr Brian Hoffman of Barrie, Ontario who owns the First Canadian Shave Soap Company created a very nice, FREEZING soap which he named Polar Vortex. Here's a sincere review about it!

Ease of lathering: 10/10--One of the easiest soaps to lather which I ever saw.

Longevity of lather: 10/10--This lather would last for a ten-pass shave.

General skincare: 8/10--VERY, VERY cold menthol with a nice post-shave feeling.

Scent: 7/10--A few points off, but the scent is mild and quite pleasant.

Price: 7/10--Not cheap - in fact I'd call it fairly expensive. But still worth it.

Would I buy again: 9/10--I believe I would. This soap is for menthol freaks like me!

I think this is the only company in Canada producing any shaving soaps unless there are others which I never heard of. I bought it on Etsy last week and I'm quite impressed with it. Great lather, a menthol punch which is not quite as strong as a Glacial soap, but still damn STRONG and terrific skincare. I suppose I could overlook the relatively highish price!

Never heard of him or his company and Barrie is just 40 miles from where I live. I'll have to keep an eye out. BTW, what is a "highish" price?

I can understand silk as a descriptor but believe this is the first time I've seen it listed as an ingredient. Good review though.

Prairie Creations did (or does) use silk in their formulas as well. I think all that it does is to add to the ingredient list. That's not it's intended role in the formula though. What I'm saying is that it's not required for a great shave soap.
