on a 1940s style milord, what should I expect with a bent base plate?

Hard to tell without seeing it, but almost guaranteed to cut and rip your face.

its a beauty, one end has a gap of about 4 or 5 on a fat boy, other end is about 2.

But a bent base plate is not a slant. I suppose you may want to just go ahead and use it to shave with, and find out whether or not you are pleased with the results. :)

Nic slants work by basically reproducing the angle we naturally hold a straight razor which you can also do with a fixed head DE if you want.
