Howdy

Post by murchmb »

Though I'd stop in and say hello. I still see some familiar names in the posts. I've lurked every once in a while over the past decade, but I see it's been 13 years since I've posted. I've had a short beard since about then, so I guess that would explain things. That changed last week, and I realized how much I've missed a proper shave. Looking forward to getting my shaving stash out of the attic and switching things up. Looks like my Penhaligon's and AoS tallow soaps have appreciated in value! Sad to see the loss of my beloved tallow Tabac and MWF.

Welcome back, Mike!

That's the story of our hobby. Favorite blades, razors, brushes, etc. are discontinued, while soaps, creams, and such are discontinued or reformulated. The common strategy has been to hoard favorites while they are available. I have big hoards of blades and soaps (Valobra Shave Sticks and AoS tallow-based soaps made by Valobra). I've found artisan soaps that I like, as well. I also have a lot of brushes and razors, though I've narrowed down what I use.

By the way, I have worn a beard for 53 years. I shave my neck and shape it on the cheeks.
