Razor: EJ Chatsworth
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: Vulfix 2234 Super
Cream: Cyril Salter Sublime Citrus (say that 10 times, really fast)
A/S: Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel, Taylor No. 74 Victorian Lime Splash

Very nice citrusy shave. I really like a good citrus scent, even in the fall and winter.

Simpson Emperor 3 Two Band
Sandalwod-scented MWF
Moss Scuttle
1947 Aristocrat
Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (black)-sample
Azzaro pour Homme AS

The Aristocrat needs a light touch; the blade exposure is similar to the modern-day Merkurs (my specimen at least).

Friday:

Fortnum & Mason/EJ Chatsworth & Treet Dura Sharp
Frank Shaving's Two Band Finest Badger*
D.R. Harris' Almond Hard Shaving Soap
D.R. Harris' Marlborough After Shave

*Recently acquired off ebay for $19! Its of the flexible type and actually feels like a kent bk4 with two band hair. The handle is well done and weighs the same as my duke 3. Its not a Simpson's by any stretch of the imagination, but it would make an ideal beginners brush or as a change up.

  • Prep: Noxzema Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
  • Brush: Knotty Roddy Chubby 2 - Badger Refurb
  • Cream: Proraso Green
  • Razor: '07 Elite GEM Jr Lather Catcher
  • Blade: Ted Pella PTFE coated GEM SE (shave 7)
  • Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
  • A/S: Thayer's Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner & Oil Spice A/S Splash
  • EDT: TSD Old Spice Type EDT
  • Result: The best BBS shave I have had in months. The Elite GEM Jr razor and Pella blade combo worked wonderfully. This is the first time I have ever used the Proraso. For something as inexpensive as it is the lather was marvelous. Thick and slick. Only thing I don't like about it is the scent. Smells like I am shaving with a eucalyptus cough drop. Finally, to my surprise I used the alcohol laced traditional Old Spice A/S, which my wife loves, and did not get the excruciating burning sensation. It did tingle a bit but for only a few seconds. Seems that I have finally gotten my SE technique about right. Gotta give this shave an 11 on a scale of 10.
