Homemade frankincense & myrrh preshave oil
Schwarzweisskeramik XL scuttle
Somerset Simpson Special Best (18/42)
Sultan's Rose shaving cream soap (sample)
Schick Krona
Astra Superior Platinum (4)
Floris Elite aftershave balm

A great shave. I don't really like rose scents, but the Sultan's cream scent was unobtrusive, and it lathered beautifully, better than the Signature cream. And despite what the die says, this was the fourth shave on this blade.

Rooney Heritage 1XL
Feather All Stainless
Super Iridium
Trumpers Sandalwood cream
Sandalwood Skin Food
Trumpers Spanish Leather

Max

I really consider the original Rooney Heritage XL series the finest face lathering brushes made. Something about the knot, short loft and "gel" like tips pulls it all together. I believe Lee Sabini is continuing this tradition with the Morris & Forndran brushes coming out of London these days. Great product.

Tuesday Night:

Razor: Mergress
Blade: Perma-Sharp

Brush: Semogue 1305 boar
Soap: Cella

Lather made in a bowl, as always.
2 1/2 passes.

Aftershave: Thayer's Peach Witch Hazel blended with a bit of lather and massaged into the skin.

This is my first shave with my new Mergress.
I started with a setting of 1.5, which worked very effectively with a light touch, but it was very aggressive and it didn't feel "smooth." I turned it down to 1.0 for the rest of the shave, but I didn't notice much difference. I got a close shave with razor burn.

I subsequently realized that 1.0 isn't the lowest setting on this razor, so for my next shave, on Thursday, I'll crank it clear down for the gentlest result possible and see how it goes.

Tuesday:

Gillette Model #58 & Wilkinson Sword ( UK )
Simpson Duke #2 Best
D R Harris's Rose shave cream
D R Harris's Pink A/S
Taylors Sandalwood

I have a number of lose packs of Wilkinsons. This one is almost certainly from that period after the 'Light Brigades', perhaps the early or mid '90s. This is the period when I first noticed that the quality of the Wilkinsons was maybe slipping a little bit. But these are still VERY good blades; and Wilkinsons remained good until the buy-out and shift of production to Germany. At that point the quality declined very sharply, IMO. I dug these out of the bottom of my stash and I hope I have a few more packs in there.
