I just sent Lee an email asking if he could re-apply the lampblack lettering on the brush handle. We'll see if he responds....

Lee says he can polish the whole handle, reapply the lettering (which is done by something called Tempo Printing), and send the brush back for 37GBP, which is about $60. I think I'll go ahead and have him do it.

Well, Lee just finished re-lettering the brush. Unfortunately, when he picked it up he had to pay an extra $90 in customs duty fees because I had declared the full value of the brush, not knowing any better, and of course he is passing that cost along to me. It's turning out to be a very expensive brush indeed.

Customs in Europe are absolutely merciless. Items with a high declared value, as was the case, are almost always taxed.

Unfortunately that is the way it goes. Still, what alternative do we have, as customers? :?

Well, I just got the brush back from Lee, and I think the polished handle and reapplied lettering looks quite good.

That is a real beauty. It seems that Rooney ran a few specials in finest - sometime based on handle designs that were already well established in their range. I had both a small and large Alibaba filled with finest. The large performs better and is in my rotation, I sold the small one.
