I've been a wet shaver for 56 years!
I've been a wet shaver for 56 years!
Chris, thanks for the info. Dominica is back in my den, too. Good to know it has grown on you. As far as scenting Valobra, I will probably go heavy on scent, too, as I love a very potent straight lavender EO scent. I have some vetiver EO I may put into a stuck, too.Thalay Sagar wrote:Tim, sorry for the delayed answer. I've had the bay rum for a while. In fact, I think I picked it up from you as memory serves. It wasn't my cup of tea initially but it has grown on me. So thanks.TRBeck wrote:Chris, couple of comments/questions: is the bay rum a recent addition to the den? How do you like it?Thalay Sagar wrote:Valobra stuck w/ lavender

Dominica Bay Rum w/Lime
Also, how much EO are you adding to your Valobra stucks?
As for the EO in the Valobra, a fair amount, but I really like a stronger scent. Probably 10+ drops. I guess I am trying to exorcise too many years of eau de goo in a can.
Regards,
Tim

I did some wieghing and paid more attention to the feel during the shave (and the quality thereof). The R89 handle is 37g, the barley chrome handle is 46g, and the heads are predictably identical at 30g. The R89 obviously is a bit more head-heavy, but also lighter overall, so I have to apply a shade more pressure to get the same feel on the face. The more head-heavy design also changes the resulting angle of attack unless I remember what I'm working with. Pair that with the extra pressure and I get a bit of irritation on the jawline and the right side of the neck. Note: the angle of attack refers to the way I'm holding the thing. Obviously the head geometry is the same. Anyway, I just have to remember that it wants to tilt a bit toward the head and everything's okay. Nevertheless, I prefer the EJ aesthetically, too, these days, so I'm leaning toward just keeping that one.
