Armed Forces Roll Call

Post by swarden43 »

So how many Grunts, Jar Heads, Fly Boys, Squids are out there?

I'm retired Air Force, 1980-2000. Worked on and taught avionics on mostly cargo jets - C-130, C-141, C-5, KC-135, C-9, KC-10. Started out at Wright-Patterson, Ohio; did three years at Rhein Main, Germany; then finished up at McGuire here in New Jersey.

Still in? Thank you for serving! May God bless you and keep you safe!!!
Take care and God bless,
Steve

I'm an officer in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

I'm always slightly envious of those people who do it full time. A part of me always wishes I had.

Active duty Air Force from '99 to '07, mostly at Mountain Home AFB, ID.

Air National Guard from '07 to present, Peoria, IL.

I'm aircraft electro/environmental, have worked on KC-135Rs, B-1Bs, F-15C,s F-15Es, F-16CJs, and currently work on C-130Hs.

I'd have stayed on active duty if they wouldn't have left me stuck at Mountain Home for 7-1/2 years!

US Navy, 84-92. If I would have stayed in, I would have been able to retire 5 years ago; something I often think about.

I was only on the 130s for a year and a half in Germany, but it became my favorite. Tough airplane. Seemed like the more they flew, the less maintainence they required. I loved watching the 8-shippers come back from an excercise. They'd all circle the air strip in formation then #1 would do an assult landing while the rest circled again. Then it was #2 with the assult landing while the rest circled. 'Round they went, all getting their turn, one by one.

I grew up an Air Force brat. Dad took us to the Air Show every year. I still love watching 'em fly!
Take care and God bless,
Steve

I don't know about C130s. I took off in them, but never made a landing in one! Same with 119s and 141s.

US Air Force 1986-1997(Medical discharge)
I worked Electronic Warfare on F-4's, F-16's, A-10's and C130's.
I have spent time at Keesler AFB, Seymour Johnson AFB, Kunsan AB, Pope AFB, and a few months in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
I'd still like to find a few of my buddies I served with, see what they are up to, if you know them, send me an email:
Emory "jehovah" Fitts, Daniel "Flazier" Lazier, Randy "the Knife" Ferris, Mike "Mickey" Wolfe-- if you know them, let me know. Its a small world, you might know them.

Kinda what I was hoping for, Jason. I know the military can put people anywhere and everywhere around the world, but I'd like to see SMF bring a few of 'em together.

USCG 92-95. The first two years were spent stationed in Honolulu and are somewhat hazy.
